Weird, something changed as today my battery life was “normal”. Used my 16PM as I always do for work and I was at 79% when I left work at 5:30….usually I’m at 46% or so.

I know something changed with the app
Store yesterday…maybe that?
 
10% drop with 1 hr 15 min screen on time.
On a Pro Max that’s very low, unless usage is really heavy (heavy like max brightness with camera or gaming).

I’m typically crossing the 3-hour mark on my 16 Plus on iOS 18, and heavier usage like outdoor use with some camera crosses the 2-hour mark typically.

It's really noticeable and annoying. Almost tempted to downgrade back to iOS 26.6.

In my view, most participants in my iOS 26 battery life thread of yesteryear suggest it is not worthwhile. I posed the same question to Apple geniuses, who agreed it feels like a gimmick; in my personal use on the 15 Pro, it degrades the refresh rate and dims the screen excessively.

By default, all iPhone 17 models activate adaptive power mode. On iPhone 15 Pro through 16 models, it remains off unless chosen. This feature is intended for Apple Intelligence to balance battery life and preservation, yet in my opinion it performs little better than its stated ATM

I use Low Power Mode because I got used to it (not on 26 anywhere so I don’t have adaptive power), and I feel the exact same way.

I’ve run battery tests with and without LPM back with the iPhone 6s on iOS 9 and 7 Plus on iOS 10… zero difference with my usual settings optimisation (LPM disables things like background app refresh and push mail, which I already have disabled).

I have always had a consistent battery life with the same usage pattern, and really, the difference can be attributed to obvious usage variations because it was too small (IIRC, 4h 40 min of SOT with LPM disabled to 70% on the 7 Plus, 4h 47 min with it enabled, the difference was none).

Apple’s support website doesn’t really say anything different with Adaptive power vs LPM (I don’t have adaptive power since the newest iOS version I have is iOS 18), and like I said, I merely use it out of habit.

Adaptive Power does dim the screen… by 3%. I’m not surprised by comments saying it makes no difference. The only way it would make a difference is if you had all settings enabled, because settings like background app refresh and push mail, if constantly active, are massive power draws.

With a moderately efficient setup, it should practically do nothing, imo. Unless it’s doing something else that Apple didn’t mention (which would be odd since people mostly report no difference, like you said).

Agreeable to all of these things and 10/10 ain’t useful at all.
 
Bruh I literally hit 89%! NO MORE 90% anymore which I was like that from February until now.

Hope no insane decrease happens like when my iPhone hit 99% and went all the way down to 91% health in a matter of weeks!

In my experience, the 89% to 80% segment is far more stable, but there can be exceptions. A family member’s iPhone 11 dropped from 86% to 79% within 200 cycles (after a compatibility-forced update from iOS 14 to iOS 18).

That’s so rapid !!!! I retained at 90% for an estimated 305 cycles over 6-7 months on February till now. 624 up until 929.

100% to 91% ~ 308 cycles from the beginning.

91 to 90%~ 308 to 624 cycles over nine MONTHS. 316 in between.

Yeah, that’s normal, it typically settles for a long time after the initial, and rather rapid, drop.

My iPhone Xʀ dropped to 98% in March 2020. To 94% in Nov 2020 after 130 cycles (straight from 98%). To 93% in March 2022, 90% in March 2024 (in quick succession, it was at 93% at the beginning of March), and to 89% in Nov 2024.

It has remained there ever since.

This is a very common experience. My 9.7-inch iPad Pro was at 91% after 164 cycles and 13 months of ownership. Now, after a decade of ownership and 800 cycles, last I checked it was at… 87%.

My iPhone Xʀ dropped to 98% in March 2020. To 94% in Nov 2020 after 130 cycles (straight from 98%). To 93% in March 2022, 90% in March 2024 (in quick succession, it was at 93% at the beginning of March), and to 89% in Nov 2024.

It has remained there ever since.

This is a very common experience. My 9.7-inch iPad Pro was at 91% after 164 cycles and 13 months of ownership. Now, after a decade of ownership and 800 cycles, last I checked it was at… 87%.
Curiously, my MacBook Pro has stayed under 100 cycles; the last reading was 87 with 100% battery health after a year.

I rely on al dente and the built-in macOS charge limit continuously. Yet the cycle count remains low because I rarely leave it outside the home now that work and school are virtual; the device leaves the charger mainly in the living room, during travel, or for occasional trips to the Apple Store for the Genius Bar. Only time I go to school in person is to take certain proctored exams like certification exams.

I tried beta testing for a month, but corruption in macOS Golden Gate 27 beta 2 forced a downgrade to Tahoe by the Lead Genius last month, along with advice not to beta test my Mac again unless it is RC or a stable release.
 
94 percent after 265 cycles. OS27 beta 4 has been the absolute worst. On one of the earlier betas, I got 9 hours and 51 minutes before my phone died. Without low power mode. Now on beta 4, I’m lucky if I get 6 hours of active screen time. I’m a moderate to light user. Hopefully beta 5 or the official release fixes this. For what it’s worth, in the almost 3 weeks between beta 4 and 5, my battery health went from 97 percent to 94. Also, I know it’s a beta lol.

did your iPhone hit 20% frequently like mine did? I think it caused it to hit 89% so fast .

The health drop has nothing to do with the beta. It'll stabilize around 93% soon.
