iOS 27 Beta 2 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Mine's FB23348621. Says more than 10 with a potential fix identified for a future OS update.

So looks like it'll get fixed "eventually".

I’m loving most of iOS 27, but I think these are the two screens that need the most work currently.

The call buttons look tall and oblong because the background is so dark that you can’t see the shadows. The new tab page doesn’t “pop” or seem to lift off the page with layers the way most of iOS 27 does. It mostly just looks like Show Borders is turned on in Accessibility.

Contacts and Weather also look bad when the glass slider is pushed to the far right. They look good when the slider is at the center. I hope they add the slider to Per-App settings eventually to solve this.

Automations still work about 30% of the time and when doing text to speech, it has issues/using Siri to text sometimes results in Siri just stopping and not sending message. Main issue right now is that Apple TV will “disconnect” from airplay and crash. Whatever app will crash and when trying to restart will auto crash. Occasionally gets stuck in a crash loop every 3-5 seconds that’s only fixable by unplugging power cord
 
I can say that the wireless CarPlay 30 second drop out has been solved in beta 2. started my drive down to SC from NJ last week on beta 1 and couldn't make it out of my driveway without CarPlay cutting out and needed to go wired. updated to beta 2 while in SC and the way home, wireless CarPlay worked perfectly the whole 800 mile trip home.

I did notice that Live Text is no longer available in the photos app. no longer able to select text within a photo in the photos app to copy/paste. reported it, case FB23523839. anyone else have this issue?

No problem with text selection in Photos on my iPhone 17 with DB2.

Yes. Live text was missing on my SE3 on Beta 2

Then it appeared after a lot of touch and hold activity

Anyone else finding that "Write with Siri" is totally useless. The previous writing tools was extremely good. Just offered simple way to get to proofreading, etc., directly from the message you were writing. Now you have to select manually a group of words over a certain size to even get to proofreading. And Write with Siri doesn't appear to be do anything at all. What am I missing?

Odd one maybe someone can shed some light on….

When I installed 27, it was via OTA from 26. As a personal rule, I do not use the App Library. I find it beyond useless. I do test it as part of the beta.

I arrange my apps on the Home screens - first is common used, second is critical. After that it is alphabetical. About 20 apps per screen. Works for me.

I couldn’t find my ScanNet app, looked in the App Library, found it there and put it back on a Home screen. But that got me thinking (yeah, dangerous). So I counted.

Apps installed according to Settings > General > About = 100
Apps on Home screens = 138
Apps in App Library (minus Recently Added) = 153

Either apps are duplicated across folders in the App Library or I have a number of apps missing from the Home screens.

Has, or can anyone checked and found something similar? Thought I would ask before I dropped a Feedback.

As a rule, I do not delete an app and keep it in the App Library.
 
I believe settings doesn't count apps which have been offloaded, even though they still show on the home-screen (if you didn't remove it) and the App Library (AL).

The AL doesn't allow duplicates. I guess you either have apps missing from your home screens (maybe clicked the wrong option when deleting an app) or you've found a new bug. I'm assuming you have "Add to Home Screen" set in settings.

The Home Screen does, but there's currently a bug whereby if you drag it from siri/search it will silently delete any other copy - you have to do it from the AL.

I have an automation for waking me at 6:20AM: Stop the ocean sounds on my HomePod, and start streaming my favorite radio station through my Belkin Soundform for my home audio system.

Several times now, it just didn't fire. (Luckily I have a back-up alarm set, too, for a few minutes later.) One morning it triggered at 5:20AM. However, when I try "test this automation," it works fine 100% of the time.

Will report.

I realize the simple thing I would most like in iOS: A larger (optional by toggle) translucent banner on across my lock screen when I have the ringer turned off. That itsy-bitsy little speaker with a line through it at the top isn't cutting it.
 
Automations (apart from basic time-based ones) are extremely temperamental on both iOS and MacOS.

Creating a new one, or toggling an existing one off/on will allow it to work. Once.

I'm sure it's been logged hundreds of times already; many have posted FB numbers here and on Reddit. Mine is FB23352495. The easy to way to know there's been hundreds of people logging the same issue is the fact it says "none" in the Feedback 😁 It's close to pointless logging FB requests and has been for a few years. But I still log them.

They look at everything. If it's immediately important, they fix it. I reported an issue in contacts. It said "none". But they contacted me about, and fixed it. It was bad though. Most users would not have noticed.

Curious if anyone else has seen issues with syncing bookmarks from iPhone to other devices. My iPad and Mac have no problems to each other but nothing syncs either direction on my iPhone

Do you have a screenshot of the problem you’re seeing here?
 
I'm also experiencing automations not working consistently, specifically I use the rotation lock automation for YouTube and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Or if you open Control Center while in the app, it's as if you closed the app and it re-enables the rotation lock. I submitted Feedback for that specifically instead of just broadly reporting automations not working correctly, which I guess is why it says none for recent similar reports. However, it really just fits in with all the other intermittent automation issues in general. FB23465095

I’m having issues with Messages in iCloud not syncing properly. Bookmarks works fine. I’ve reported it and it’s states a solution will be implemented in a future OS release so seems like a fix is coming?

My wife has Oticon hearing aids, and beginning with beta 1 the hearing aid icon is on even though her hearing aids are paired with her 15 Pro Max and they are NOT paired with my 16 Pro Max. I have tried repeatedly to get rid of the icon on my phone to no avail. Has anyone else seen a spurious hearing aid icon that floats around the screen and won’t go away?
 
identity protection not working for anyone else?

On 15Pro, it says applied but nothing changes. Also some really funny outcomes when trying to cleanup faces.
