Black keyboard looks nice (made available by enabling a long passcode). Hope that'll be an option in keyboard settings when it's final. I know it was in 3.2 via Ios config utility but it passed me by.

Yea that does look hot!

I'm having some crashes in Mail. I think it's related to a POP account. When I disable the account, no issue with MobileMe or gmail pulling down.

Bug report submitted.

having this problem also...sporadic crashes in e-mail

Niggles with the 3G data setup aside, it's feeling pretty solid.

Making use of the folders which are a godsend, and enjoying the multitasking. Being able to finally add multiple exchange accounts as well is fab. Don't have POP3 accounts I can test with yet (will set one up to confirm later) but IMAP seems alright. Haven't been able to look into the printing side of things yet, but will do soon hopefully.

Haven't noticed any performance drop either.

Edit:
Typically, just as I post that I find something - App Store.
Currently needing to click twice on the search bar to perform a search. First tap brings up the last results, and second tap brings the keyboard up - Can't remember that happening on 3.2.2

Additionally, pressing cancel when the keyboard is up freezes the keyboard in place. The only way to get rid of the keyboard that I've found is to click back onto the search bar to bring the cursor back, then click anywhere underneath.

Some thoughts:

The iPod app has been causing some trouble. After I put my music back on it I tested it out and it was creating this real fast stuttering when I navigated tracks. Rebooting seemed to fix it.

Then this morning I tried to play something and it just flat out wouldn't play. It would act like it was starting then just exit playing mode (though the app itself stayed open). Again, rebooting seemed to fix it.

I played a couple of albums and synced, and iTunes didn't recognize that I played the albums. The play counts increased but there is no "last played" date (or the date didn't change) and the tracks do not appear on my recently played playlist.

Also, both 3G and wifi worked OK last night, but when I got to work this morning, no dice. I was concerned I was having the 3G issue others are having - I was connected to 3G and had a signal but it told me I had no Internet connection if I tried to do anything. I also couldn't join my wifi network at work. Rebooting seemed to have fixed it.

I would like to report these issues to Apple but I'm not a real developer; a dev added my UDID to his list. So I don't know how to report them (or even if I can). Anyone know?

MobileMe mail problems

I seem to be having issues with my MobileMe mail not pushing. When I open the mail app, all my mail shows up fine but when I'm not in the app my mail won't push. Everything worked fine before the update and I've double checked all the settings. In general as reported before the mail app seems to be a little buggy and slower. Anyone experience something similar?

Does the mute switch not work for anyone else? All this hoopla and it doesn't do anything on my iPad.

Does no one else have this issue?

I've actually had it work while viewing an embedded video in Safari. But it does not work when trying to listen to music, watching videos I've synced, youtube videos in the youtube.app, etc.

The overlay flashes but you still hear audio. Through the speaker or headphones, it doesn't matter. :(

HA - nice find. Last night when it was mentioned, I flipped the switch and saw the "mute" icon so I assumed it worked. Today when I played some music and toggled it, the music kept playing. Bug! :)

I'm surprised at how very few bugs there are in this beta. They did a good job. Looking forward to Beta 2 now :).

Very nice beta. I like how safari now doesn't keep reloading pages and the little notified of how many tabs you have opened is very nice.

Bluetooth support is greatly welcomed for fast forward, rewind buttons etc.

Multi tasking is smooth and as easy to use as it is on the iPhone.

A great beta - roll on November.

Having problems with WiFi on iOS 4.2 on my iPad WiFi only. Works for about 2 minutes, then craps out completely. Nothing fixes it but a "Forget this Network" and a hard reset.

Could be the cruddy Netgear router or the equally cruddy Time Warner cable, but obviously I've got to be posting this somehow...

Same problem here. WiFi in the left sidebar is listed as OFF, even though it is on and I have selected an access point for which I have the WPA password or for which there is no password.

Sometimes I can connect for a while, but after I wake the iPad, it won't connect. Even a hard reset does not necessarily resolve the problem.

Well now that someone else sees it too I feel a little less crazy. :p

Airport express

For those wondering if AirPlay works with airport express i can confirm that it works with the iPod app and even more impressive is that if you play any video, including YouTube or embedded youtube videos, you can choose to have the sound output to your airport express which in my case is connected to my hifi.

And... The sound is nicely in sync with the video, even YouTube videos!

EDIT just found a bug I think. Since setting my airport as the audio output for YouTube, now all my iPad sounds are coming through the airport, email notification, game sounds etc lol.
Pretty sure it's a bug as it's useless for games due to the 3 second delay. Videos are delayed to compensate for the delay in audio.

Is it me or is battery life reduced? Seems to be depleting faster than before, though it could be a false observation

Yep the mute key seems to be the most notable bug so far.

It works the same way as on the iPhone. The sounds of new mails and push messages didn't play and also in games there is no sound if you activated the mute switch. But there is still sound when you listen to music or watch a video.

I think a mute switch only make sense, if there is facetime available on the iPad.
