In earlier versions of iOS, if I closed all the tabs/pages of Safari when I was finished using it (out of paranoia!), whenever I went to open up Safari again - it would immediately open my bookmarks. It no longer appears to do that under 5.1. It just opens a blank white page which I prefer.

i am so pleased about this! as small as it sounds this has probably been the thing that annoys me most with safari. i tend to close my pages after i've finished with them and it always irritates me that whenever i open safari i have to wait for it to bring my bookmarks up just so i can touch 'done' to send them away again :)

It seems all push notifications flash the camera LED if you have it switched on via accessibility prefs. Before it would only flash when you had a text message or phone call.

Phone is flashing away when I get a reply on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

Anyone check out the really beautiful stock wallpapers? Maybe they were there before, but I just discovered them.

Settings > Wallpaper > arrow on right > Wallpaper

Also, my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 seem faster - like when I open an app or send a text.

Icons look brighter, too, and lettering under them seem to have more distinct shadows, making them easier to read.

The new camera lock-screen is cool. I think the majority of users know that you now swipe the icon up to access the camera from the lock-screen, but I just discovered that if you swipe down from the top, it drags the lock-screen back down and locks your phone again! Pretty nifty, I must say :D

When you swipe the camera button up from the lockscreen, swiping down brings the lockscreen back down.

On the lock screen, if you tap the camera icon (but not slide it), the lock screen does a little bounce.

In addition to swiping up for the camera, swiping down brings you back to the lock screen

Location Services in Settings has a lot more detail explaining what everything means, as well as some System Services choices.

There seems to be 2 new wallpapers (as I don't remember seeing them before)

Notes has some revised icons at the bottom.

I was using Tip Calculator app for dinner tonight and noticed a little box with an arrow appear in the top right of my status bar. Tapped it and a "Quick Switch" box popped up. I don't think I've noticed this before. Correct me if I'm wrong. Only seems to do this on certain apps?

Battery is going to pay for that.

Name of the app?

I LOVE the ability to remove selected photos from photostream. Still finding little things, but overall I'm pleased so far!

Now, lets see how better (or not) the battery life is!!

Not sure if it's been mentioned or if it's even new - but the weather widget in the notification pull down has some continuous animation that I've never seen before.

Do you mean continuous animation in the sense that you can slide the weather widget to the side to reveal the week forecast? If so, that's been there since iOS 5.0

I don't see this feature you speak of.

Safari not opening the bookmarks when brought up is a nice improvement. Now if only I could quickly switch between tabs on my iPad or pages on my iPhone without the damn things auto-refreshing. That has been my most hated feature on Safari since I started using iOS devices.

As for the weather widget in my notifications list, there is no animation. Just still images.

We can now (on the iPad) select if we want the music list in Music app to be sorted alphabetically or by artist.

Landscape in Pages on the iPhone!

Also, if you touch (but don't drag) the arrow on the lock screen, the "slide to unlock" text doesn't stop with the "white wave" through it. The white wave used to go away as soon as you made contact with the arrow, now it doesn't go away until you start to move it.
