new features of the camera

And I like very much the new face recognition in 5.1 framing more than one face in a green rectangle, focusing is way more precise than in 5.0.1 when face recognition was very poor. This a major improvement.

That is what I am encountering. While home on WifI only I get 10 hrs usage on iPhone 4S. If I enable 3G my battery drains significally even though I am at home on Wifi. iOS 5.1 did not relieve the issue. :(

Not 13% worth!

I lost about 6% overnight, but not from a full charge. Also, this is on a first gen that has probably had at least 500 cycles. That seems acceptable.

3UK roaming on 2G networks

Correct. They have an agreement with Everything Everywhere (Orange/T-Mobile) to use the Orange 2G network.

I guess what they don't want is for folks to be constantly on roaming when there's useable Three 3G service in the area (as they would be if 3G mode is deliberately toggled off)

Pretty good. No problems at least.

The sliding quick camera thing to me initially really weirded me out though. No idea why. Just seeing the button for the first time..then trying to click it and seeing it nudge...weird.

So, NOW I seem to have battery and data problems

Historically, prior to 5.1, I had 5.01 (latest I guess)

I had many services turned off, LS was on but only location was ON. I had icloud off, few settings in notifications, etc. The standard stuff to extend battery life. I could usually get bout 2 days of life. Charging at night only once every couple days.

I also didn't have any of the unknown daily data usage issues. A pretty HEAVY user, I use about 350-500MB of data a month and that includes doing updates to apps while out and about.

So, NOW after doing 5.1 from the device, I now have the device battery going down much more quickly. I'll be surprised if I get a whole day now and as an example in just the first two days of my billing cycle, since going up to 5.1, I have used 45 MB of data, so nearly 2x+ the normal daily amount. Not sure where it is coming from.

Are there settings to anyones knowledge that have now been turned on from the prior version?

iOS 5.1 gives the ability to delete from PhotoStream. Here is the initial impression I found.

I dont think it deletes photos from PhotoStream as a whole, only the PhotoStream that is for that device.

Example: I deleted a photo from my iPad's PhotoStream. It specifically said this photo will only delete from my photostream on my iPad.

I opened my iPhone and confirmed it. Did another test deleting one photo from my iPhone's PhotoStream. Same message popped up stating this would only delete the photo from the Photostream on this iPhone.

So I'm assuming you'll have to manually delete the unwanted photos each time on every device.

I think you are right. Again, why would they do this? I just want to delete some pictures for good!

(I've only read the last couple of pages of this thread, so apologies if this has been mentioned.)

Updated to 5.1 through iTunes. It looks like the update erased my APN settings, so I couldn't access cellular data. Because I have a Straighttalk SIM, which, like AT&T, hides the cellular data settings submenu, I had to do the SIM swap trick again with a spare T-Mobile SIM. :(

Podcast chapter titles not loading since I upgraded to iOS 5.1. This did not happen in iOS 5.0 or 5.0.1.

Also, if listening to a podcast, if you lock or unlock the phone the audio cuts out for a second. Very annoying.

I submitted a bug report to Apple for both issues. Hopefully they fix them quickly.

Experiencing this as well with the "Pocket Cast" app. Super annoying.

I think you are right. Again, why would they do this? I just want to delete some pictures for good!

Again, photos that were taken before iOS 5.1 will only delete on that device. Photos taken after iOS 5.1 will be deleted in all devices including Windows computers with iCloud control panel. :)

My battery is about the same but my 4 became NOTICIBLY faster with this update! I'm loving it! :D

I have a Verizon iPhone 4 and have never had the 3G toggle, only "Cellular Data". Been that way since I first got it.

Well I must really have something wrong with my iPad 1. I updated to 5.1 and ever since it seems to be just crawling. In Safari it starts fetching pages gets about 50% finished and just stalls. Keyboard lag is terrible. The trouble is I'm travelling right now and din't bring my laptop with me. I guess when I get home I will do a complete restore and see if that helps any.

Unfortunately 5.1 did not made the buzzing noise from the 3G module dissapear, but it extended the standby time, now I get a full day of normal use and still battery left over 30% when home.

Yesterday evening it showed like 3 hours and 1/2 of usage and 20 hours stadby and I had 54%. And that with notifications, 3G, Wifi and location ON.
