Now when you open Safari, it doesn't pull up bookmarks. It shows this.... Thank God... I hated it when it used to do that....

hey guys - question. Why is errrbody so up in arms over not having the "Disable 3G" toggle? is it a battery life thing?
please excuse my basic questions - i'm papa smurf when it comes to macs but i'm wicked newb with the iphone!
Would it still search for 3G even if it has a wifi connection though?
Ahhh. It's a call forwarding icon! Except that I had it turned off. Just toggled it and it disappeared. Odd. But when I turn call forward on it slows up again.
This is new I think
Same here. iPad works fine but battery drain issue still on going with iOS5.1 update and iPhone 4S. My battery drained 13% overnight sitting at idle.I installed 5.1 on my iPad 2 last night, and I definitely notice speed and performance improvements.
It is especially noticeable in Safari. Pages load quicker from the bookmark list or when clicking on a link in a page.
Also, when I'm on a site, I like to open a lot of new pages in background tabs and then go through and read them all. In the past, on many sites, it wouldn't load the page until I clicked on the tab, now the page is all loaded and ready to go when I open that tab, which is a nice time saver.
For the iPad 2 I am very happy with this release.
Not as happy on my iPhone 4S. Battery seems to drain quicker. Also, as others have pointed out the location services arrow stays on for 5 secs or so after you exit an app that was using location, such as the camera.

That is what I am encountering. While home on WifI only I get 10 hrs usage on iPhone 4S. If I enable 3G my battery drains significally even though I am at home on Wifi. iOS 5.1 did not relieve the issue.Would it still search for 3G even if it has a wifi connection though?
Not 13% worth!No notifcations overnight?
BTW It's not just AT&T that doesn't have the 3G toggle. I'm on Three in the UK and don't have it.
3 UK doesn't have a GSM network, it's exclusively UMTS/3G.
As for Verizon and Sprint, they are CDMA2000 networks and they don't fallback to 2G which explains the lack of a 3G disable toggle.
3 has a deal with other networks I believe so it can drop down to their 2g network if their reception is thin.
Works great on IPad 1. Best of all not a single Safari crash
