I really find it hard to believe that there hasn't been a drop shadow on icon names yet. iOS 7 just looks terrible with most wallpapers. The font needs some sort of ability to stand out..just feels really incomplete. Hoping for the GM to have some refinement.

If you have a light background, icon names will get a smudge of grey behind them to help contrast. Think that was added in Beta 5.

Beta 6 issue. iPhone 5 with dead (0%) battery doesn't turn on by itself when plugged in (after regaining initial charge for a few minutes). This has happened to me three times so far. The first time this happened, I thought it was a fluke. It kinda sucks when I plug in my dead phone at night, and expect the alarm to wake me up in the morning, but the phone never turned on like its supposed to.:(

Since when does an iPhone turn itself on?

First off why wait until the battery is dead to plug it in? If the alarm is important to you, plug it in when you get low battery warning and it won't turn itself off. ...The only problem here is you expecting it to turn itself on after it shuts itself down.

Secondly, if you must wait for the battery to die, just wait a few minutes after plugging it in and turn it on!

The point of the low battery warnings is so that you'll plug it in and get it charging before it runs out so it doesn't have to shut itself off while you're in the middle of using it.

So, this is not an iOS beta issue, it's operator error.

a dead iPhone will turn on by itself after it's sufficiently charged, so you're wrong.

That's correct...or at least it should under normal circumstances.

well I don't typically let the battery run down...since it gives me sufficient time to plug it in...so, it's been so long since I let it run out, I really don't recall that it turned itself back on, but, I will admit, I could be wrong about that, if so, then, I'm assuming it simply would not be a function included in a beta iOS. (I recall letting my iPad (1) run out, but I do not recall it turning on by itself.)

In any case, my point is, just plug it in when the battery is low...you get notifications, you get red in the battery indicator in your status bar, the phone is telling you to plug it in, just don't let it run out, simple.

There is no reason to let the battery run out...these are not nickel-cadmium batteries that have the "memory effect" and need to be fully depleted and fully charged to last longer, they're lithium ion and that simply isn't the case.

Maybe you just need a car charger? Or an extension cord for those long nights of texting or gaming in your sleep?

it's been in at least one of the iOS 7 betas.

When it comes to something like that there's really no right or wrong way to use the phone and everyone can use it differently. The main point really is that that particular feature was there with iPhones before and should still be there (short of a beta related issue of some sort).

A dead iphone (prior to beta 6, at least) always turns itself on after charging for a couple minutes.

Secondly, no need to criticize how people use their phones. I use mine extensively and there are days I don't get to a charger in time.

Yes, I should use a car charger, but sometimes I don't. Texting or gaming in my sleep? No, sorry, I'm not 12.

I prefer it if they got rid if the carrier name (unless roaming) - I don't need to be reminded of who my carrier is every time i look at my phone.

I wouldn't be surprised if carriers insisted on it.

Then again, Apple did convince them to axe the carrier branding on the phone itself...

Even Apple does it on the wifi iPad. Just says "iPad" in the corner where a carrier normally would be. I don't know, maybe something needs to be up there to help identify the type of device?

What is a bit much?
I hate using an OS knowing it could look modern and fresh but instead it looks outdated, lame and awfully designed. Turn on "increased contrast" and you know what I mean by lame.
Not having transparency/translucency effects hardly makes it all awful. Maybe not as "cool" looking, but that's still a ways off from disturbing or horrible somehow simply with those effects gone (after all they are just effects for looks and nothing really more).

Hm. If you think so, that's fine - I personally really identify one of the best features of iOS 7 as this depth illusion with blurs.
iOS 7 with translucency & blurs > iOS 6 > Google Cards > Metro > iOS 7 without translucency & blurs
That's my opinion. By the way, Apple is heavily advertising iOS 7's translucency "depth" so I think this is a main feature. It's a little like Siri on iPhone 4, although the new iOS 5 wasn't advertised with Siri (jailbreaks have proven that device can handle Siri, tried it on a 4 by myself). Beta 4 proves it's possible to run it on iPad 2, and Apple WILL advertise iOS 7's depth as a main feature.
So basically it bothers me that Apple advertises this new OS with clarity and depth and so on but ruins the effect on slightly older devices.

If you've nothing helpful to contribute best not post tiresome, smug questionnaires. We find them tedious.

Does anyone know if it's possible to delete a song in the music app that's been downloaded from iTunes Match? In iOS 6, you used to be able to swipe to remove it but don't seem to have that option anymore in iOS 7. FWIW I'm on beta 6.
