This is a great improvement. Glad that Apple seemingly listened to at least some feedback about the Calendar and made some changes to address some/most of the things that were brought up.
- Calendar list view button
- now FINALLY at the bottom of the month view in Calendar, events of selected day are shown again
- new Control Center animation
- buttons can now be marked clearlier (so pressable text labels look like buttons again)
All added in iOS 7.1 b2... TAKE THAT, CALENDAR HATERS
See these screenshots (ignore all the German text)

I think that part is more of something they are testing perhaps or really a true accessibility feature that won't be useful to those who aren't really affected by the thinner fonts and all that.I personally do not like the buttons and how they look

That said, the improvements to calendar (which was the main thing I was commenting on, although I didn't quite specify that), specifically to bring back some of those removed pre-iOS 7 features, that's a really good move on Apple's part.
Was having this same problem. Beta 2 seems to have fixed it on my 4S as well.I don't know if this was a problem that everyone had, but in b1, I could not change tracks or play/pause from a docked device or AVRCP over Bluetooth without it crashing the active music app. This seems to be fixed for me in b2. iPhone 5s and iPad mini retina.

Cant take a pic right now as I have events listed today, but yesterday when I had no events the section was still there but it just showed one line message there simply saying something to the effect of "no events".When you don't have any appointments for the day (or any more appointments for the day) does the whole Calendar section go away, like the Reminders do? Or does it still show an empty list like it does now? And could you provide a pic of this?
Like? Could be useful to mention those.Well u ought to look into other threads for for more beta info.. There are a few things there in the ios 7.1 beta 2 thread u haven't updated ...
