ok couple of things here. very possible these were mentioned before but I was late to the party and don't feel like reading 60 pages lol

so first the podcast app doesn't work at all...I'm sure this will be fixed in the next beta I'm not that concerned just curious if this happened to everyone?

secondly, I may just be missing something here but is there no quick Internet search? on other ios's there would be the google bar to the right of the web page address but when I go to the top of the safari page all I see is the address bar...meaning I've been having to type out google.com (or bing now apparently ha) to search something
surely I've just overlooked something?
It's in the address bar. Start typing and you'll see search google or bing.

Both of these are wrong. iOS does not turn off like an old school TV, and you can still swipe.

Wow, hold your horse there pal. I just tested again on mine and it does turn off like an old school TV.

Camera: When you swipe to the right it change to "Video" instead of your camera roll. Your iOS 7 doesn't do that???

Can someone else confirm these? Thanks.

I just wish people would stop with the "but you're not a dev so you shouldn't get the beta" stuff. Why in the world would Apple allow those with dev accounts 100 UDID slots if they didn't think they'd let non-devs in on the betas? No one, and I mean NO ONE has 100 different Apple products. Apple WANTS the most people it can get to use the betas to find bugs. That's the way I look at it, anyway.
Huh?

How do you think developers go about testing the code that THEY write?

If a device's UDID is on a developers account, then that device has the ability to directly load applications written by that developer (i.e. load an application that didn't come through the App Store).

I'd imagine that even small developers will find a significant base of iOS products -- owned by different people -- to test their applications on, before releasing them to the App Store.

And good grief, if you only find 5 people each for iPhone 3Gs, 4, 4s, 5, iPad 2, iPad 3/4, iPad mini, and the various iPod touch models that all run recent iOS versions, to test your apps, ... that's not a small amount of UDIDs, IMO.

One thing I hope that gets added later on is the name of the current city in the Today part where the weather is displayed. Otherwise, one would have no clue if the weather updated properly when driving between cities.

A couple things I've noticed:

- the message bubbles slide around when you scroll through.
- the new "typing" bubble looks neat and is nicely animated
- the multitasking previews are actually live for a short while, but static after they've been dormant for too long
- when you scroll around in safari and get the psuedo-full-screen mode, you can no longer tap the status bar to get to the top. You have to tap twice now
- the control center settings basically confirm that the feature will become more customizable
- there's a TON that is obviously far from finished. For example, when tweaking Notification options, they don't even have icons for alerts, banners, or none. It's just blank space.

Hi.

First time i've tried a beta version out. Registered as a dev just out of curiosity really as its such a big change from previous ios and i wanted to play.

Lots of glitches with the transparency becoming completely see through but aware this is a beta so I'm confident they will be sorted.

then re open the app and its fine

Lots of overlapping txt. Some in voicemail and some in the siri help screen.

Really like the control centre (although this is ancient tech from jailbreak.. but its well implemented and will only enhance the user experience. Good to see basic things finally improved like flashlight and calculator now with percent key on the main screen! and being able to quickly set alarms from the control centre

Love the lock screen. Very elegant and simple although the transparent theme has issues with different colour backgrounds I've found. Think they need to give the clock some shadow for contrast but again I'm sure it will be fixed. Even the slide to unlock is a little hard to make out some times.

I dont personally like the new icons and not sure there is a set theme across them. Some are faded top to bottom and others the other way round. Doesnt seem 100% harmonious yet. The elegance of the lock screen is let down by the primary school icons once you open into the home screen.

However, I love the way when you open an app it now 'zooms out' from its icon and the reverse when you press the home button to close.

The compass with spirit level feature is another nice touch.

As is the panoramic wallpapers. Very cool and you can use panoramic shots you have taken yourself.

Obviously many apps dont work at all or crash regularly. Will be interesting to see what app developers do with the new style. Will they have to make apps that sense if the user is on ios6 or ios7 and apply buttons and keyboards accordingly?

I REALLY hope they do open up airdrop to work between iOS devices and Desktop / Laptops as well.

For a Beta1 it seems pretty stable although i will be going back to ios6 for a bit as napster app doesnt work at all and tomtom crashes and i use both of those regularly. Look forward to trying a later beta though.

when opening up messages for an unread text, it doesn't scroll to the bottom of the convo and show the latest message, it shows my last reply and I have to scroll down.

Is everyone else's like this?

If I'm not mistaken, in ios 6, you can only slide to unlock in the bottom where it's written. In ios 7, you can slide to unlock anywhere on the screen. So, seeing the words is not important anymore.

Reminders

Did anyone else notice the horrible UX for the reminders app? I really hope they don't continue using a card stack interface for the app.

Yup, it's terrible from the icon to the app itself. I use Any.do for my reminders. It's free, works great and it's a beautiful app!

yes your correct on the functionality of the sliding (and its much better to be able to slide anywhere... although ive taken it out of my pocket 3 times to find it already unlocked now) ... but it still looks a bit unprofessional IMO to have text that is barely visible.

Apologies not needed....it doesn't cache (to me, that means it is somehow "temporary.")

"Mobile" devices fully download the song if you play it and it must be manually deleted if you don't want it in there anymore.

I don't do "random play" on my iPhone due to this and have just set up playlists or only play the "top rated" playlist.

:)

I think it updates the cloud icon later...not sure why. Was wondering if that was fixed in iOS7.

It does go away eventually.

It streams for me then caches the song. The cloud icon stays unless I press it to download. If I turn off iTunes Match it clears all songs that were cached and only the songs the I specifically clicked the iCloud icon to actually download remains on my device. Same as on ios 7

Here's an article that clears it up a bit. www.idownloadblog.com/2012/06/13/ios-6-itunes-match-stream-and-download/
