Be patient guys, maybe they will implement more features on the official release
hopefully :p

Did they add "Up Next" functionality?

I feel like they need to add this feature. This wouldn't be that hard considering they have it in the remote application for when you are choosing music to play on your Mac from your iPhone. Maybe in later betas.

Disappointed to see little changes. I was hoping for Up Next with perhaps a UI similar to the remote app.

I get the sense that one guy is working on the app at Apple, and it's not even his top priority.

it's pathetic that's there's no queue/play next or on-the-fly playlist feature

probably takes 1 or 2 lines of code

Can someone see if they have changed the Repeat options. It's dogged me off since iOS7 that you can't repeat a album if you have played an album from the Artist section, only gives options to repeat song, or repeat Artists. But, if you play an album from the Album listing is gives the option to repeat album.
I could never get my head round why they changed it.
Also they removed these options from the lock screen. No repeat function at all since iOS7 :(

Tell me about it!

Please suggest this to Apple like i did. http://www.apple.com/feedback/

I have been suggesting this since 7.0 beta 1, it angers me that they stagger such simple feature releases to keep us in anticipation. It should have been arrived to iPhone the same time that they introduced iTunes 11, if not very soon afterwards.

My only hope for this functionality now is the "extensibility" functionality .... hopefully that will enable 'Up Next" to work

. . . I have 117 albums from 1 artist that I love dearly. The artist tab shows me 117 albums, if I want to get to that last album or even in the middle....what a complete waste of time to just scroll and scroll and scroll, cascading and cascading down and down I go, to FINALLY get to my album . . .

Not ideal I know, as you'd like a change, but I take it in the meantime you're using Spotlight to search by album title to save you all that scrolling?

I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me how well iTunes Match has performed for them in iOS 8, thus far, specifically with regards to album artwork. Since the launch of iTunes Match in late 2011, it's been impossible to change album artwork without it eventually reverting back to the artwork that was attached during the initial matching/upload process. The only way to change album artwork, thus far, has been to delete the album from iTunes Match/iCloud, and then re-import it.

Also, since iOS 6, another artwork bug developed to where, if you have custom artwork for an iTunes purchase, downloading the album will revert it to the iTunes Store artwork in the Music app.

If any iTunes Match users are able to give some insight into this, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

While I doubt we will see up next (hopefully in 8.1).. there still could be further tweaks to the music app. iOS 7 had numerous changes in the beta period... so there is hope.

Up Next is a feature in Remote App - and it works really well. Surely it wouldn't be much of a stretch to add this to the Music App (which is surely used by MANY more people).

Is it finally possible, from the "Now Playing" screen, to add a song that is...ahem, playing now to an existing or new playlist? It has not been possible up to now, which I find to be absolutely pathetic.

I was hoping for some HD audio news, but sadly none, I have a lot of DSD files and FLAC files, maybe in the future.

Adam.

If thats the case its pretty pathetic. It's clearly not a difficult to implement feature.

From the looks of things they're focussing on OS X for the moment. Loads of rumoured features (split-screen multitasking on iPad, transit directions) didn't make it to the beta, and most of the new features in iOS 8 are just opening the OS up for dev's to create things. I reckon we'll get a good 8.1, else we'll have to wait for iOS 9 (9?!)

SO SAD!!!!

Apple is not listening, they are not listening to the customers. I have 117 albums from 1 artist that I love dearly. The artist tab shows me 117 albums, if I want to get to that last album or even in the middle....what a complete waste of time to just scroll and scroll and scroll, cascading and cascading down and down I go, to FINALLY get to my album after wasting so much time, where is the ZEN?
ZEN=Change
Apple is not changing the Music app and that is really sad. The person that designed this and won't change it only has 2 albums per artist in their library.

From what others have posted iOS8 is still the same.
Apple is not listening. I gave feedback 6 months ago about this.
Why can't the artist tab be like iOS6?

Why not use the search feature in the meantime?

Still, as a user, they are making me jump through more hoops than necessary to a basic task of adding a song to a playlist. Someone in Cupertino either doesn't get it or has sadistic tendencies. Either way, it's pathetic.

Feedback guys, feedback!

It worked with the fullscreen contact caller ID and so it can work with the music app. Let Apple know you're unhappy and get as many people as you can to let them know as well.

What do you mean by fullscreen contact caller ID?

To the rest of you suffering with the horrendous music app introduced in iOS 7, I strongly encourage you to use Ecoute. It has better browsing options, better GUI and includes options like "play next" and "add up next". ;)

Feedback submitted. Tempted to email Tim as well, because I have been banging my head against that wall for about 2-3 major iOS releases and still nothing.

The worst part is that they not only screwed up the Music app, but also their music API—so lots of 3rd party apps, even being superior to the official one, have to deal with stupid inconveniences and bugs that annoy the user.

Oh, Apple…
