For all we know, the battery problem could just be 1 single bug. One line of code, that is flawed. They could fix it within 5 minutes, but won't, until at least the next beta.
So things like "they claimed better battery during the keynote, but didn't deliver" are complete nonsense right now.

From what I have read in this thread, it seems like, that this beta constantly uses data, which causes the drain. It's probably easy to fix for them. Just be patient and have a nice day. ;)

As stated numerous times in this thread, the common theory is that idle battery drain is partly caused by apps that are still active in the background and using data etc regardless of whether background app refresh is enabled or not.
Battery seems fine on my iPhone 5s so far - although I did switch on Low Power Mode at 40%
what was the safari % ??

You can open a tab in chrome and tell Siri to remember THIS later.

The no even if you close close the tab, when the reminder jumps, chrome gives you that tab.

I'm trying other apps, but it is good to know it is not limited to safari the Siri reminder

it would be great if siri can integrate deeper with third party apps.
I remembered that WWDC noted this.

Doesn't matter. Beta is supposed to be used for testing purposes not everyday life. That's how Apple sees it. As said before, if you install a beta you have to know what you're getting into.

Well it does matter. Lets see if people will accept this next month when the public can get their hands on it.

More than likely the battery will be better by the public beta.
Apple has said on NUMEROUS occasions "better battery life" going back years, and only the 6 plus has delivered that due to a bigger battery. Not once has tweaked software given better battery life. Ios 8 beta 1 didn't run down 99% battery while note being used. Nor 7, nor 6, nor 5 etc...

Well, if Apple can deliver a software beta with decent battery life performance, I bet they could do better in the final product, maybe even better than what they claim.
You know apple watch, right? This new device has only 18 hours normal use in a day, announced by Apple. However, some users can use it roughly a whole day without charging.
Therefore, I believe apple could do much better than what we could expect, although I feel they are trying to chase after time, and maybe, other competitors, such as Microsoft.

Not sure if anyone has said it but there's a speaker button next to audio texts now. I'm really loving all the new little features in iOS 9

Here are a few additional bugs I've discovered
  • Watch activate on wrist raise less accurate
  • Keyboard randomly stops working on iPhone
  • Phone heats up dramatically when playing video
  • Camera crashes in notes app
  • New Siri reminders do not work
  • Siri has trouble connecting in good service
  • Watch  Pay inconsistent (sometimes works, sometimes not)
  • Safari lags, especially with video and rotation
  • Search suggestions better in safari than spotlight
  • Watch face flickers after being selected
  • Digital crown stops working in random notifications

Both Mavericks and iOS 7 boosted battery life simply because of software.

Betas (especially the first ones) have always introduced battery drains, that were fixed some time during the beta. It's nothing unusual and it will happen in the future.

Mavericks yes but iOS 7 didn't boost battery life

Although Apple always touts battery and performance improvements with every iOS release, I think this is the first time Apple has specifically promised an extra hour of battery life from any iOS release so I'll take them at their word.

This is the problem with so many people being able to install iOS betas who have no business of installing a beta. Your expectations for a beta are becoming expectations of a GM release. At this point, the battery life does NOT matter. As we get closer to the GM, yes.

No it doesn't fix it. The glitch is still present in beta 1

Since iOS 8.3 the folder corner glitch had been addressed. Before it would do the little glitch thing just after the animation finished and the name comes up. Now it does it just before the animation is finished so it is a lot less obvious and thus consider fixed.
Maybe 9 messed it up again.

I don't recall Apple ever mentioning better battery life when announcing software updates. This year they've made it clear that they've updated the foundation of iOS and did things internally to improve battery life. This is definitely more than a "tweak"

May I propose that the changes in the Wiki post are listed by app/service to make it easier to find items regarding specific apps? I would be willing to rearrange the items, but did not wish to make such a large change without consulting others.

It sounds like you haven't used many betas. I have. I recall seeing massive battery drain in previous betas. This doesn't happen often, but it does happen. If you can't deal with it stop complaining and go back to a previous release.

Every iPhone I've used has had battery life compared to a previous generation. I won't characterize it as "good" battery life, but it has improved.
