It's definitely weird and apple must fix this. This is the complete opposite side of what they claim.

1. This is a Developer beta. Its sole purpose is for developers to test new API's in their own software. Nothing more.

2. Apple has said the release version with have better battery life.

3. No 3rd party app is currently optimized to run on iOS 9 so one or more apps could be causing trouble

Anyone who is experiencing battery issues should test their device in a controlled environment with a fresh install and no 3rd party apps installed.

Any changes to the ability to cancel Exchange meetings (and have the cancelation sent out to the attendees)?

As of right now, the meeting is simply deleted from mine and only my calendar

I wasn't talking about the emoji but the little info screen you get when you first try to long-press on an emoji to change the skin tone. I think that's new for iOS 9.
Pretty sure that was

pretty sure that 8.3 had that the first time you used the new emojis, could be wrong though.

Yes we get that, but 99% lose when you are not using it is not good no matter how you try to spin it.

Again, what you say is a very formal explanation, and I bet most of us surely know this is a beta software.

So yes, since it is still a beta, we can expect future improvements, and possible changes, to alter some of designs they implemented in the beta software.

And, because not ALL beta testers (whether they have developer account or not) will do a clean install with no 3rd party software, those who didn't do that can have a quick glance at the 3rd party software support of this new os. If third party apps don't need to implement much new API to work, this could be a good thing for developers, since they don't seriously need to rush for a newer version update.

I am neither a developer nor a tester, however I still use beta software because I believe the new function and features outweigh potential drawback of using a beta software.

And, if they say released version will have better battery life, if this version shows us improvements, would it be better to optimise it for a better result? (say, +4 hours in reserve mode)

Weird eh? Apple didnt mention that it comes on at a specific percentage or anything did they?
The reason it doesn't show anything is because I didn't use iPad much since iPhone and macbook air does most of my job.
However why Apple didn't implement power reserve mode for iPad in this beta? This is strange.

Stupid question, but how do they know the improvement in battery life when they don't have a final version to compare?

Do not need a final version to see improvements. Just test whatever version they're using against a production version of iOS 8

I know a lot of people are seeing poor battery life, guess I'm lucky because so far I've had pretty good results. Some days better then others.

No, you're not supposed to be annoyed at the battery life. You installed it (I'm assuming) knowing the risks of what a Beta entails. To install a beta and then complain about battery life doesn't make any sense. There's a reason Apple tells people NOT to install it on their daily driver.

FYI, my post was about the "Sort it out Apple" part of his post, not the commenting about battery life

I've posted many times in this thread, I guess you haven't been paying attention.

Edited.

I would get that if the current beta had better battery life than 8.3. Maybe the version they are on does though...

For all we know, the battery problem could just be 1 single bug. One line of code, that is flawed. They could fix it within 5 minutes, but won't, until at least the next beta.
So things like "they claimed better battery during the keynote, but didn't deliver" are complete nonsense right now.

From what I have read in this thread, it seems like, that this beta constantly uses data, which causes the drain. It's probably easy to fix for them. Just be patient and have a nice day. ;)

You are the chosen one! Is that mainly on wifi? I lazily updated straight from iOS 8.4 beta (using iTunes).. I wish I had the patience to do a clean install though
Clean install may require a developer account. Don't do that unless you can avoid from being bricked.

No chance of getting bricked as I have a developer account. I was just incredibly impatient and wanted iOS 9 beta straight away plus as this is my only iPhone 6, I didn't want to have iOS 9 without all of my data being on it from the start.

Can't vouch for this not having been mentioned already, but I noticed that music stored in the cloud via iTunes Match no longer download to your iOS device as you listen to them. Before now, If I listened to music on my non-dedicated device, I'd have to flick iTunes Match off and back on in settings in order to delete those songs from the device.

Edit: the same is true of the latest version of iOS 8, so it looks like a change in iCloud's functionality?

I dont think anyone is actually COMPLAINING about it.. Just find it hard to understand where they get these statistics from? How do they know that the features/bug fixes they fix before the GM wont put the battery life back to the same as it currently is? Just seems like a false statement if you ask me

Battery seems fine on my iPhone 5s so far - although I did switch on Low Power Mode at 40%

I find the new iTunes Match download options quite weird... For example go into a song from a single EP... Download the actual song then for some reason u can still choose the option to download the song from the 'album' version... For example:

This is a screenshot from my phone which is running 8.4 beta but ios 9 is the same. Isnt really a problem but its just a bit confusing that although the song is already downloaded i still have the option to download the whole album even though it only contains one song lol

Any idea on how iTunes Match will work with Apple Music?

Good to see you have an account.
I don't want to nuke all my data, and I don't have a developer account, while i don't want to register for it recently only because of this beta.
So I simply update it from previous iOS 8.4 beta. And you know, I have many of those issues addressed in this post, including battery issue.
