Try this: Lock the screen rotation from Control Centre, open Message app, then open YouTube and play a video in fullscreen. While playing the video, double press the home button to open app switcher and from there select Message. How does Message app open? For me it is finally in portrait mode as it used to be in iOS 8. It wasn't the case on iOS 9 until 9.2b2.

What is your device? I'm on iPhone 6. Maybe it have not been fixed for some devices and should be reported.
Sorry, the bug for me is that is at the point of opening the app switcher, the OS is in landscape mode even though the device is portrait locked. If you're saying that when then going into another app from here it's able to recover and go back into portrait, that's good news. But again the fact an app can somehow trick the OS into thinking it's in landscape (it's fine for the app itself to display in whatever orientation it choses) then something is wrong with iOS imo. edit: thinking about it more maybe this is just useful behaviour so ignore me

I do think that beta 2 is actually smoother than beta 1 on the iPhone 6. I previously said that nothing changed (the same frame drops are still there), but they occur less frequently. The app switcher now appears to be smooth in 95% case of the time (previously more like 75%). And also the general feel of the OS while switching apps back and forth seems to be more fluent. It's still not perfect, but it's getting better.

^ Thinking about it even more, can anyone tell me if this app switcher orientation stuff is a new feature of iOS 9? I feel like it is but could be wrong. For example, say I'm using BBC iPlayer and I'm holding the phone in portrait with portrait lock on. The app lets me browse for videos like this fine. Then say I tap a video to watch it and it immediately displays the video in landscape. Fair enough, that's the best way to watch it, but whilst I'm still holding it in portrait with portrait lock on, I still feel I should be able to, for example, bring up Control Centre from what is the bottom of the screen to me and not what is the bottom of the screen for the video. But no- what happens is the system goes into landscape mode too. CC must be brought up from the side of the screen (or, of course, you just rotate the phone to watch the video properly and access CC normally from what is now the bottom)

Now, I can see why Apple may change the system orientation in this case as most people will turn their phone around immediately. But is this new for iOS 9? I feel like iOS 8 and earlier very strictly respected the portrait lock and the way you held it, above how the app decided to display its content. Yes, the app could play video sideways, but the system would still behave as if in portrat mode. Please let me know! Am undecided about whether I like this feature

Noticing a bug with Apple maps navigation when in lock screen. Not sure it if happens in the app as well haven't tested.

But the distance to the next direction is not counting down correctly. It will say 500m and then jump to 100 or not all until I've completed the turn and it will then show the next move. If I manually turn the screen off and on again it will show the correct current distance. It's like it's not updating when it's supposed to.

If my memory is not failing me it used to count down in 100m increments on the freeway and less when driving in the city.

We should know that all bugs will be improved/ resolved in last update of iOS 9. This could be 9.4 or 9.5. Who knows?

The Great Orientation Bug;

- opens several apps in portrait/landscape
- go to app switcher
- switch to alternative orientation whilst in app switcher view
- enter an app
- enter app switcher again
- go to another app
- they will not always rotate to match the proper orientation without actively wiggling the tablet around to force the orientation to change

im not seeing any major changes when it comes to speed and lag, are you guys?

I tried 9.2 beta 2 yesterday on Air 2, reverted back to 9.1 today to compare. I really do not see any performance differences between the two and if anything Safari seems more stable/smoother in 9.1 , yes it is also not a beta. Most performance changes seem negligible to me. I also run with reduced motion on, don't like what they did with the app switcher in beta 2 with RM on.

There is a bug in the apple music app I think

1. Create a playlist in itunes
2. On device make it available offline
3. All tracks will download
4. Remove a track from the playlist
5. Track stays offline on device, but it should be removed

Submitted to apple

The whole offline music thing is still bad for me with the indicators. Half the time an artist will have the icon next to them but none of the music is actually offline, I still get the option to download. I've caught lots of little quirks like this

Everything running more stable and smoother on 9.2 b2, when compared to 9.1.

My 6+ has never run better. Couldn't be happier. Apple is definitely making improvements.

They do. And they are very active on the bug reporter. I had 6 responses to bug reports in the last two weeks (4 for iOS on 5 reported)

Reduce Motion disabled make me dizzy. Look like I have to endure that ****** app switcher for now and hope it's just a bug and not a new feature...
Same here, it's really annoying. Not sure what's worse, the motions when it's not on or the horrible app switcher when it is on…

I'm sorry, but what the hell is "pooped"?

Also, what is "Safari View Controller"? I've never heard of this.
Apple said:
The new SFSafariViewController class enables you to deliver interactive web content in your app just like Safari, including the key Safari UI elements already familiar to your users. See how to easily bring Safari features like Reader and AutoFill into your app, and provide a great web viewing experience with fewer lines of code.

And here that interesting app :)

I am quite sure that apps in app switcher wasnt stacking before beta 2. Now they are exactly on top of each other. They were stacked like cards before. If this was mentioned before Im sorry:)

Agreed, I don't know wtf Apple was thinking, I hope this is a bug and not a new feature because using the App Switcher with Reduce Motion on is just horribly slow!

The 6s Plus Landscape 3D Touch menu lag is still jittery as anything.

Makes me wonder when Apple will fix all these lag issues.

All iOS 9 betas, 9.0, 9.0.1, 9.0.2, 9.1 and now the first two betas of 9.2 have already been released with no signs of improvement.

It's ridiculous than even the newest iPhones are performing that poorly as you described.
