You must have been in the same bar I was. He had a new device, iPhone 12. Idiot left it behind on the table so I'm gonna sell it to the highest bidder.

PSSTT..

i'm the current highest bidder on your ebay listing for iPhone 12

somewhere warm, dark, and cozy
I expect the following from beta 4:

- News app has an option to import your Feedly feeds + saved items
- round icons
- cheaper iCloud pricing
- new iCloud security options
- dark mode
- live weather icon
- sort App Store reviews by date
- option to back up and restore your TouchID fingerprints
- option to back up and restore Apple Pay cards
- visual indicator for iMessage users in Contacts
- two-finger drag over keyboard
- show full URL in Safari search field

Lol. Prepare to be very disappointed when the next build comes. Pretty much what you see now is what you get for what iOS 9 will be. (minus graphic and OS bugs)

- Round icons would have been shown back at WWDC when they announced iOS 9

- iOS has zero impact on what the iCloud pricing is.

- Dark Mode (see Round icons above)

- Live weather icon (again see around icons)

- Two Finger drag over keyboard was removed for iPhone and is iPad only now.

- Backing up finger prints and Apple Pay cards is probably not being allowed for security reasons.

How is backing up fingerprints/cards any different than backing up passwords and credit card numbers?

Something tells me they can't be backed up because both are stored on the iOS Secure Element in the A8 chip.

That and the main security feature of Apple Pay is that it's locked behind Touch ID and never showing your card info during transactions. It's 100% about total security. No trail.

Would be great if TouchID can be used as home button replacement. Less button pushing and gives the gimmick more use.

It's interesting how much of a difference we have in threads/posts regarding this beta compared to beta 3. Beta 3 blew MacRumors up.

This suggests that the current betas are definetly usable.

Sounds like this may slow the system down if you had to wait for your fingerprint to be read every time you wanted to return to the springboard.

I can see where you are coming from though. And also - welcome to MacRumors!

Hey thanks! Well, I did try out the jailbreak app which allows you to do exactly that. Yes the home button needs to be pressed to wake the phone up but from that point on, there is no delay because it doesn't really need to read your fingerprint because the sensor picks up the simplest touch. Slightly over-sensitive but I got it working swimmingly and had a great experience with it. No noticeable battery drainage issue and double tapping it or whatever can trigger other commands like going to multitasking mode, SIRI, etc.

Oh and BTW, being a guy who gets on the bandwagon everytime a beta iOS is in the works, I have to say that this Beta 3 iteration works almost like a full customer release. Battery works great, most of the important phone related apps work nicely and little to no crashing. Compared to this, the iOS 8 beta was a disaster. So yeah, definitely usable. Can't use BBM though but Whatsapp fills the void just fine for the time being.

I don't know the exact pattern, but it seems like after the first two or three betas, they start to release them every three weeks. Still hoping for today.

It's stored in the "Secure Enclave" which can't be backed up. Passwords/CCNs are stored within Keychain.

Touch ID doesn't even actually store your fingerprint. It just attaches a value to what the imager reads when you activate it. There's never actually an image of your fingerprint saved.

Same goes for Apple Pay - your card number isn't ever actually saved on the device. Instead it generates a device specific ID with your bank, and then every time you make a purchase, it generates a one-time-only code specific to that purchase (which is why your bank has to support this system first).
