No, it wasn't a setting, just if you had your phone in your hand and the screen dimmed, you just had to pass your hand over the screen and the screen was bright again. It was a nice feature.
Was that mentioned anywhere? Haven't heard of it nor have I experienced that.

Similar to that, but just with the hand over the screen.

Are you sure it was that gesture that did it? And not just any skin hitting the Touch ID? I just threw it to 30second timer and tested a bunch of times. It doesn't have to be a finger hitting the Touch ID. Any skin and even the lightest little touch will trigger it.

Nope, I just put my phone over the table and watched the screen go dim, just the gesture of the hand made the screen bright again.

Could it have simply been some glitch with your phone or something like that? Certainly people experience things here and there that aren't typical or expected. People that have their screen stay on for extended period of time even with a timer on at times, or something else. This doesn't sound like a feature that was really added, again at least not one that anyone (at least those that have been posting here and some other places) really has heard of or experienced.

I had that, too.

It was the sensor next to the speaker above the display.

Just had to swype over it.

Again, I understand that you experienced it, but as I mentioned, could it have been some sort of a glitch with your device that created that? Have there been some others that could reproduce this? Could it have been a beta glitch for some devices (given that there certainly have been oddities with some betas and various devices/carriers before)? Has this feature been mentioned anywhere as a feature? That's basically what we are trying to get to as far as figuring out what it's all about.

This beta seems to have the smoothest support for custom keyboards like SwiftKey of any.iOS release, Beta or full. No freezes or missing keyboards so far! And they appear quickly! I am sure I will be let down soon, but it is promising.

It's raised my hope that soon we will.actually have usable 3rd party keyboard support in IOS, which is the only thing that has frustrated me since moving ñrom Android.
Geoff,

It is quite amazing but I have found quite the opposite.
If I have either Swype or Swiftkey installed they now never appear in Notes, calendar etc.
Also if I do have either of them on my device the apple English keyboard does not work.

For me this is the worst of any of the betas to the point where I am going home tonight to uninstall and then install as a new device.

Xerxers....

My brother has an iPhone 6, mine is 6+, we both could do it.

While running iOS 9 Beta 5 on iPhone 5c, iTunes would move all my music to the Other Folder. Never happened on iOS 8.4 or iOS 9 beta 1/2/3/4. Anyone else experiencing this?
I'm also having the same issue all my music collection moved to other

Well, not sure. Perhaps a beta glitch of some sort, perhaps not. If it really was a feature it would seem that a place like this or other similar ones would have mentioned it somewhere at some point by now.

Someone in this forum found it first when the beta came out. I tested it and it worked. I'm looking on previous threads to see if I can find who posted it.

The only hits about any feature like this doing a web search are all jailbreak tweaks. Like you I have never heard of it stock in iOS. It would be fairly known I would assume if it was.

Thanks for the info.

The fact that theres any choppiness at this point is a joke. This update was touted as performance, stability, and "smoother animations". Delays when exiting and entering apps??? I'd love to see a comparison with an iPad 1 which might be faster than some of this garbage. These are A7 and A8 devices here. If this is the way its going to be on iPad come next month, I'm sticking with iOS8.

Thanks you made me laugh :D

Do you have an iPad 1 in hand ? I have, and can assure it's like it's from another century.

Battery life has been stellar for me (except beta 2, which drained awfully)

I made a clean install yesterday and happened to me, I thought that it was an iTunes mistake and reinstalled again iOS, did the same. Unplugged the iPhone, closed iTunes, plugged again and synced, it solved the problem.

I could use it too in beta 3, just in that beta, it was removed in 4 and 5.
It's not a tweak nor a bug, it was present in beta 3, test it yourself.

Why could it not be a bug/glitch in a beta then if it was just in a single beta?
