is your 5S overheating problem after fresh install or not ?

My initial overheating/battery-drain problem was after a non-fresh install of b5. But, as mentioned in my post, the battery drain after Reset All Settings (on the non-fresh install) corresponds to the drain that I get on a fresh b5 install.

So, it looks like Reset All Settings can save you from the hassle of a clean install.

Edit/PS: I’m saying “looks like” because there are really too many variables, as simplyjoel pointed out. However, I made sure that the Photo Library wasn’t syncing during the tests.

Any idea what to do with a stuck status bar and apple logo after a "Reset All Steetings"?

Was tuck on approx 5% for over an hour, so I did a two finger reboot and it is still stuck at the same point.

DP5 and my iPhone 6 was running HOT!

Major heating up for me on iPhone 6. I suspected it was caused by third party apps and the way they interact with new api's in iOS9. Which ones, specifically, I can't say, but installing certain apps causes the phone to become nuclear hot, while uninstalling them returns things back to normal. In particular, I've seen it with Google Plus & the Spark Email app.

Take today for example; no issues this morning. I install Spark about midday, and suddenly I've got a furnace in my pocket. I uninstall the app an hour later, reboot, and within an hour everything is back to normal. I install the app again later in the day, and i run the exact same gauntlet of pocket lava i wrestled with earlier on.

This issue has been following me since Public Beta 1, and every time a clean install with no backup allowed me to carry on as normal until I install the next update OTA, then suddenly its hot again and I have to restore as new.

Fresh install, then restore from the backup?

Do iCloud / iTunes backups and restores work properly now in DP5?

Back during DP2/3, neither iCloud nor iTunes restored properly (I use iCloud Photo Library) and would always error out before completing...

Big heat issues with beta 5 on iPhone 6 Plus. Phone gets extremely hot during charging and in general use when using apps such as Safari and Facebook!

I tried a clean install of 9 Public Beta 3 on my 5s - still heats up.
Ran it for 3 days without any improvement - started heating up as soon as you start using it.

Dropped back to 8.4 this morning.

I found the heating issue on my iPad Air (Wifi+Cell, 32gb), but keeping that 9pb3 - the iphone is my daily driver.

DFU Restore then restore from a backup- absolutely no heat issues here- I even took off my Apple leather case for a day to check. (iPhone 6)

I took my 5S out for a run this morning, out of pure curiosity, to see how the new DB would hold up. Unplugged it (fully charged), ~55 minutes later with run keeper and no music playing it was down to 65% - They really ballsed something up with this beta, it's surprising because it's performing so well on my Air2!

did the DFU update and then restore from iCloud ... it is still re-installing all the apps ... it is warm ... but will have to wait and see once all the apps have been re-installed.

iPad Air 2 WiFi with Cell is fine ... no heat issues so far

Hey Guys!

Since Public Beta 2 and more so with Public Beta 3 my iPhone 5s has been running very hot as soon as I start using it. I tried a restarted and a soft reset. Also, battery life is horrible compared to other Betas. I am seeing battery drops of 70% in about 2 hours time. Can't leave the house without a charger.

Anyone has experienced the same thing and has a quick fix? Thanks!

PS: I do know this is beta software which is why I am asking for a fix rather then being pissed about it :)

The first instance is to reset your settings. It will make you do TouchID and WiFi settings and set a few passwords again and see if that helps. The next step is a backup/restore onto a fresh copy. I've just done the settings reset to see first. There is a battery thread already about this.

iOS 9 Beta 5 battery and performance thread!

I remember seeing a thread somewhere around here where turning iCloud backup off/on or leaving it off fixed the hot phone problem.

I'm on a 6+ and PB3 is almost on par with 8.4 so there is something definitely going on with your phone.

I wouldn't exactly say "a lot of people" that thread has 39 posts, and some of those posts are more that one post by a same person, so really it's less than 39. Probably not even 1% of all people on DP + PB.

No smoke without fire, not everyone using the beta posts here, and just like you, I can pull random figures out of my hat, I'd guess less than 1% of people in the public beta post here.

And we'll ignore all the people moaning in the two huge battery threads
