Still getting hot.

So reflashing was a waste of time... Not going to risk the reset settings again.

Will just wait for next update
Good to know. I was about to try it myself. I'm hoping they will come out with a fix sooner than later because of all the feedback

Try turn off all the location services, I deactivated it and seems much better on my 5s now.

I did this just this morning and battery life is much improved. Yesterday I had 2 hrs 12 min usage and my phone when dead. I was a 18 min usage and still 96% battery this morning.

after updating beta 5 iPhone 5S heat up badly while using each and every app like pocket heater. Is anyone else experiencing worse battery life and their phone super heating Up.

I also have an iPhone 5s with Public Beta 3 with the exact same problem. You are not alone!

But yeah, it really sucks. This is also especially prominent when it's charging, but that's to be expected.

I believe that iOS 9 betas have been especially bad on the iPhone 5s, at least compared to other devices such as the iPhone 6, etc.

that's why i complained to Apple for this overheat issue so they send me configure log profile to install in my iPhone and after 12 or 24 hr regular use of iPhone, i'll send back this battery log to apple than lets see

I've dropped back to 8.4 ... but ....

Reading some things, people have done some Xcode cpu checking, and found that "reduce motion" is off the CPU is high, turning it off clears down the cpu cycles on the processes.
It might be worth turning it "on" to stop the paralaxing.
If you already have it "on" after a install, turn it off and on again. :)

I plan to up my iPad air (which also had the overheat problem, as reduce motion was "on") again to PB3, and give this a test, I will report back later.

Also seeing this still on both my iPad mini 2 and iPhone 6. I found that Low Power Mode drastically reduced heat to very minimal. No dice for the mini since there's no Low Power Mode, though...

Hello,
Before I updated I
Turned "Off" Reduce Motion in General/Accessiblity
Updated to iOS9pb3
It heated up again.
I then Turned "On" Reduce Motion.
Battery seems a lot better, iPad is not hot.

I think thats a success as I never had Reduce Motion turned Off anyway.
Left Feedback to that effect with the Feedback App on the iPad Air

Now for the iPhone 5S

It's interesting how this is only an issue with the iPhone 5s. Anyone else on different devices experiencing the same issues?

This worked for me.

Try turning Low Power Mode on, then reboot.

Battery drain and thermal issues have been substantially reduced for me.

To maintain results, stay on Low Power Mode.

Also, turning on Low Power Mode and not rebooting did not give me any improvements.

This can work as a temporary workaround until the next beta, in hopes it fixes these issues.

My iPhone 6 is super hot and I can literally watch the battery go down while browsing twitter, or doing basically anything. After viewing some snapchat stories, my phone dropped 6%. After checking my Instagram feed from the night and the morning, I dropped 8%. I heard on another forum to reset all settings and I did that. Hoping that works since school starts soon and I would like to have battery to use it during the day. (I don't NEED to use it during the day, but hey, I'm a typical high school nerd)

I've been staying on Low Power Mode and the improvements are still there. Battery life is significantly better and thermal issues are pretty much gone.

So yes, stay on Low Power Mode.
