I wouldn't call it just yet.. Samsung has the ability to use more than 2 apps compared to Apple.

Although, iPad apps are well designed compared to Android apps. But I'm very excited with the direction Apple is taking with the iPad.

I'm pretty sure (excuse me if I'm wrong) that that is only on their 12.2-inch tablets. :apple: might bring up to 4 on their iPad Pro.

Well, there are rumors that indicate Apple is working a 12" tablet... But it's just speculation at this point.

I tend to think that Apple won't upgrade iPad Mini 3 or Air 2, but just bring the price down. And add an iPad Pro to the line up with a price of 500 taking the place of the Air 2 at that price point.

No, I don't think that :apple: will pull a Surface Pro 3. I think they will release 3 new iPads, and start the iPad Pro at $699. I would love to see it at $499, but that is pretty ambitious.

3 new iPads? I think that's way too much. Like take for instance last year.. They only did a huge update to the iPad Air. The iPad Mini 3 was pretty much non-existent.. With only TouchID update. Releasing 3 new iPads would seem too extreme.

Apple wants to revitalize the iPad line... Make it more appealing, what's more appealing than dropping the price. I don't see an iPad Pro starting at $699... It still runs iOS and in comparison to the Surface 3 it's not a full-fledged OS.

The iPad Air 2 is great and so is the iPad Mini 3, price should go down for them. And make way for a iPad Pro for $499. That's my prediction...

Yeah, but think about the stuff that they were working on last year. 6 and 6 plus, 5K Retina iMac, and of course the :apple:Watch. They only had time to work on one iPad. Providing they don't have anything else that's big up their sleeves, they should have plenty of time to focus more on the iPad. They've already started with iOS 9, so they just need to continue.

So... I can run full Windows 8 on a 2009 HP netbook with 1GB of RAM, no problem, but I can't run two iOS apps split screen on anything less than a 2GB iPad Air 2? Why?

I myself don't like the new app switcher.

When it comes to split screen multitasking, whats ridiculous is I can already do it on my iPad Mini jailbroken....

Apple should have atleast not cut out the A7 iPad's
But theirs no reason an iPad 4 can't do it as well.

I think its ridiculous they cut it out already.

I understand the RAM issue and this feature will stoke demand for newer more powerful iPads. IPad sales have been down.

just another apple gimmick stolen from samsung

Grr! I hate it when people say that. Companies copy each other, that is just how it works. By adding multitasking, it's not as if it makes Samsung's devices worse, so what is the big deal?

I think they should at least add slideover and PIP to the iPhone. And multiple tab viewing for Safari on iPad.

Multitasking on a small screen doesn't make much sense, but it would be handy to have Tweetbot or something on Slide Over for quick access from anywhere. Or keep Notes or Evernote on the side and be able to drag and drop images against the right side of the screen to have Slide Over pop and then you could drop images or whatever into the app for whatever task you're doing. They could limit it to iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and it would draw the app the width of the iPhone 5S screen so that there is a little bit of the app peeking out behind it so it's easy to tell you're in Slide Over and you tap outside of it to exit.

As for PIP, that's pretty self-explanatory. Makes even more sense on the 6 Plus which has lots of screen space for stuff like that.

Multiple tabs would work if you already have Safari open and activate Slide Over. There would be a Safari icon with a plus on it or something that says "Open New Tab" underneath it.

All of this would've been futile had Apple stuck to 3.5" and 4" display. I'd say 5.5" or higher is the sweet spot but no lower than 5". Glad Apple followed Samsung.

Please stop. First off, :apple: did do it better than Samsung, no matter who came first. Do Samsung have native support? Do Samsung have support for third-party apps? Didn't think so. And second of all a couple of people said it was a gimmick, and they were in the minority. And I'm pretty sure those people still don't care. Multitasking is useful for some, useful for others. Nobody here is biased. Nobody here is an 'iphone minion', or an 'apple fans boy.' So stop trying so hard.
Actually, yes, Samsung does have support for 3rd party apps. In addition, those 3rd party apps don't need to be recompiled to take advantage of multiwindow.

As for the bias of posters... we're all biased one way or another, or even a 3rd way. It's part of the human condition.

just go back and read the first threads when samsung first introduced multitasking. and you find many iphone minions saying it was gimmick. but now that apple has it. all of a sudden it's not a gimmick anymore. you apple fans boys crack me up somethimes. always get a good laugh whenever i come in here. thank's for the chuckle
Ah, so the same people are saying something else now, or it's just generally some small group of people that will say one extreme thing or another often just to stir something up (ahem, ahem)? Funny how people can tell that somehow and aren't just making assumptions and generalizations (when talking about others making assumptions and exaggerations). Now that's funny indeed.
