I have gone back to iOS 8.4.1 on my iPhone 6 and Air 2. On the Air 2 I'm not noticing as much of a difference, but on my 6 the smoothness and speed/responsiveness of iOS 8.4.1 is very noticeable versus iOS 9.0 and 9.1.

I think I'll stick it out on iOS 8.4.1 for now, especially on my 6.

I actually did, it's just that some might not like the answer.
No you didn't you simply stated that some people might perceive it faster. He was asking if it is faster, it's a simple question and doesn't need any cryptic answers.

What I was saying is that Apple saying that it's faster and better just on its own can be enough for many people to perceive it that way for themselves. As far as pointing out what performs better, as objective as that should be, mostly it's still subjective where someone will feel some animation might take a fraction too long for them to be annoyed by it while others won't notice it or won't be affected by it. We've seen that in far too many discussions, making it rather hard to really prove that it's better or worse since it's not the same for everyone (even if just on the level of perception). The answer isn't cryptic, it's just realistic, and given what it is there are certain those who might not like it (or feel that it just can't be that, even if it often ends up being that way).

It's awesome on my 6+.
Choose a dynamic wallpaper, go to app switcher and swipe left and right. (15 frames per second animation).
Pull down spotlight and rotate the screen. (15 fps animation)
Re-enter an app from app switcher (20 fps animation).

etc.

Those are the same for each and every iPhone 6 Plus

If dynamic wallpapers are messing up your experience, I have some wonderful advice for you.

Don't use them.

I'm not using them, but it is unacceptable that a 1 yo flagship phone (a $1000 one nevertheless) is incapable of handling dynamic wallpapers.

That's because dynamic papers are coded poorly, let's be honest. It ain't exactly great in the Air 2 either.

it is. Apple should have given it a beefier 6-core GPU to push all those extra pixels and unnecessary blur effects.

or at the very least a performance toggle in the settings that disabled the blur effects and all the useless eye candy.

Increase contrast does that. It unfortunately turns your OS into an ugly black/grey t**d.

9.0 GM is a hot mess on the 6+ as far as animations are concerned. The new multi tasking lags and for some reason the Control Center swiping up at the home screen lags now when it never use to before only on the lockscreen.

ios 9.1 beta is much better on my 6. not as perfectly smooth as 8.4.1, but 80-90% there... a lot less lag

I can't believe, after all of the talk by Apple that IOS 9 would bring performance improvements, its turned out it may not be the case. Is there a chance that something is running in the background like a debug log that will be turned off for the fina release? I couldn't stand poor performance for another year....

The GM is the final release. There's no debugging to turn off.
