Blink has just been updated

...and it's now got autocorrect. And the "split keyboard when two keys are typed too quickly" bug appears to be gone. It seems just a bit laggy on my iPhone 5, though.

I like the "swipe to position cursor" functionality, the "delete word" button, and the fact that it does iOS and TextExpander shortcuts. Gonna try it for a while - it just might replace TouchPal as my favorite third-party keyboard.

Anyone having issues with the swipe feature of Adaptxt? It doesn't seem as accurate as Swype. Over half the time I have to fix what it writes as compared to Swype which seems to get the words right 97% of the time.

same here - swiftkey so far the most exact

I'm noticing Swype is most accurate for me.

I'm still testing Adaptxt ( writing this message with it). The thing I like about Swype is the characters above the normal letters so I don't have to switch to another screen

Are you guys seeing a big difference between the Android and iPhone versions of the keyboards?

There is a huge difference between the Android version of SwiftKey and the iOS version. A big reason is that the Android version has been around for years. Over that time, it has been refined and has included more features. The iOS version has only been indevelopment for a few months before iOS 8 was released. Developers had very little time to make an iOS version, so it will not be as refined or have as many features as the Android version. If you were around when the various keyboards were first released on Android, the probably resemble the iOS versions now.

Still TouchPal for me. Being able to swipe the top and bottom rows to get alternative characters is a real time saver.

Me too, TouchPal. Have you found the undocumented second row shortcuts? Tap and hold to get some of the punctuation that the bottom row doesn't cover (parentheses, quotation mark, colon, ampersand, etc.)

I was hoping Blink's update would raise it in my ratings, but I just can't type very fast without it totally missing in the autocorrect department.

I'm still getting used to swiping/gliding in the first place - I've had about the same accuracy on both apps with my clumsy fingers.

Actually as I use Adaptxt more and more I'm getting used to it and it's almost as good as Swype

Good point - it slipped my mind that the developers only had a few months; interested to see how they improve over the next year or so...

Miniuum is for sale today

But for me it's a ripoff anyways

----------

I am getting more used to TouchPal. Let's see which one is gonna make the race. Touchpal takes beta testers from today on. Check their twitter

Yes, I've long used the tap and hold shortcuts in the standard keyboard. The are a few that are still missing in TouchPal such as – — • and currency symbols.

If TouchPal on my Android test phone is anything to go by we've got a bright future ahead. #

I tried touchpal and the swipe feature wasn't very good. I'm liking Swype and this Adaptxt keyboard and swiftkey

just updated minuum and Turkish Language is added (at last) but still very buggy..sometimes it doesnt come up on the spotlight search and messages..tried everything but not worked..think it's about minuum..because fleksy is ok so far..

Between Swype and TouchPal, which one do you think is better? I think it may be Swype as TouchPal makes you click on the word (or press space) before it will give suggestions. It also seems to appear the swipe feature is better in Swype, especially when you move really fast. Anyone else have opinions?

Also, I tried adaptxt but that swipe feature was really bad and about 90% of the time didn't get the correct words.

Can anyone who has used Swype on iOS 8 confirm if it has click sound please.

I have tried SwiftKey and really liked it, but it has no click sound, which is a deal breaker for me.

I went back to the stock iOS 8 keyboard after using SwiftKey for a while, too many errors and it's draining my battery per the usage stats. I like a couple things about it much more than stock but the errors and battery drain aren't worth it for me.

I've tried most all the Swype type keyboards and a few regular ones and don't notice battery drain. In fact, none of the keyboards are even on my battery usage list.

I see best results with swift key and two language at once feature is awesome. But it is missing shortcuts. That's a breaker. Swype imho is a hoax. No support, no update for weeks

I've given up on adaptxt add swiping isn't accurate at all. I'm now using TouchPal and so far it's the best in terms of what you swipe being correct... But you have to hit words you swiped or hit space bar to get suggested next words so that might be a deal breaker.

The highlighted word will be automatically entered if you just swipe the next word. So the only time you need to select a word using a tap is if the highlighted word isn't the one you want. And if the word you want isn't in the three options, simply backspace and try again.

So, the best way to type is to always look at the highlighted word and swipe without looking at the keyboard. Tap or backspace as required.

Aside: Another trick is to position the cursor at the end of a word and swipe to replace the previous word with a new one.
