And come on, OMT is about new, revolutionary products. An iPad with Face ID (existing technology) at a cheaper price wouldn't qualify in a million years.

Ask Mark Gurman. He’s the source of the rumour.

One more thing usually isn’t just an iPad. If it really is an iPad, it needs a distinct differentiating factor, and Face ID would be a good one. Just a shift to 10.2” without other significant changes would not be enough IMO.
He said specifically it isn't the OMT. He said it's one of the things.

I couldn't help but laugh. It's exactly what we said it would be. Apple are nothing if not predictable.

Talk about super underwhelming.

A10.

Hardly any accessories use Smart Connector when BT is enough.

I suspect they didn't touch the RAM.

Hey it's made from 100 percent recycled aluminum! That's more exciting that using a good chip, laminated screen, Face ID, etc etc right?

But seriously, this is still their best iPad for the majority of people.

I think they use the top cases from all the keyboard replacements on the MacBooks!

It kind of would imho. A cheaper iPad Pro design for $300 kind of would

I do wonder though if they used the body of the 9.7 pro (with smaller bezels) instead of the air 1, for the smart connector. If they did it might be lighter and laminated...

It looked pretty thick, so I assume no laminated screen.

I having trouble understanding the Smart Connector on a $329 iPad.

Are they expecting teachers and students to buy a $159 Smart Keyboard? There are plenty of $30 Bluetooth keyboards available.

It's almost as if Apple asked, "What can we do to increase revenue and roll that into an update?"

This iPad is the very embodiment of Apple's "do as little as possible" mentality.

Specs are now on the Apple Store. Still 32gb of storage. Still not laminated.
