Or too little sense.I think people who upgrade from one generation to the next have way too much money..
Going to grab the 512GB iPad Pro(s). The additional space will be a great relief - it's a lot easier to deal with lots of RAW files and 4K video with those sizes. I didn't expect it, but Apple really outdid itself with doubling storage capacities twice within 2 years.
In contrast, the 128gb model that Apple made available when the 12.9 was introduced was a slap in the face.
That's a good point. I was really frustrated when they added a 256GB option just a few months later. I guess the real highlight is the unexpected bump again to 512GB.
I've owned my 12.9 Pro since March 2016...
The 10.5 Pro isn't on my radar and won't be until I hear how much RAM it has. I find it interesting that Apple decided to release a 10.5 Pro when the additions included in iOS 11 give even greater justification for the 12.9 Pro. I heavily use multi-window and multitasking on the 12.9 and it's going to be even better in iOS 11.
But if the 10.5 Pro comes with 4GB RAM, I will need to seriously consider THAT.
The internal updates to the 12.9 Pro aren't enough to get me to consider upgrading. The current 12.9 Pro is still a beast.
I disagree. But I suppose if early adopters were looking for a reason to be angry, subsequently offering a 256GB model at the appropriately higher price is as good as any. If the 256GB model came out at the 128GB price-point, I would say that there was a more substantial reason.Yep, they launched the Pro 12.9 prematurely to capture the holiday crowd rather than wait until the 256gb model was ready.
The correction came 5 months later...the early adopters had good cause to be angry.
And now, the Pro 9.7 will be the shortest lived iPad. You can't make this stuff up. You don't need to.

The 9.7 Pro is not the shortest lived iPad. That "honor" goes to the iPad 3. There were warning signs regarding the 9.7 Pro if people were looking for them. I stated those at the time of its release and explained why the 12.9 Pro was a better deal.
Yep, won't let facts stand in the way of opinion. The iPad3 was underpowered.
I stand by my comment that the Pro 9.7 is the shortest lived. Not the same thing.
If you don't understand why, that's for you to figure out.
More than happy with my 12.9". I don't have a single reason (at least strong enough reason) to upgrade my iPad. Still fast as hell, screen awesome, speakers amazing, battery life great. I don't need moreJust give me iOS 11 with that new features

Yes I'm thinking it's good to sell the 9.7" Pros - they seem to be unceremoniously dropped from the lineup - you can't even select them now online. Support for it will be questionable at best.
The annoying part is that the 9.7" Pro Smart keyboard also becomes obsolete along with the 9.7" Pro itself. I guess no one knows how much RAM the 10.5" Pro has?

What iOS 11 features are the 9.7 Pro missing, exactly? It's too bad about the 9.7" Pro. Already losing features a year in because of the RAM limitation. Though I guess that was similar for the iPad Air (though that happened after 2 years).

Besides, I expect it'll take a while before majority of apps get updated to support the new resolution. I remember the switch from 3.5" to retina to 4" to 4.7" and 5.5" and there's always teething pains. Heck, I've seen apps that are only getting 12.9 iPP support just recently.
That said, I hear you on the expensive accessories. Although to be quite honest, I was also expecting the Apple Pencil to be replaced, too.

It's limited in multitasking (I assume by the 2GB RAM). Basically this:

On the 12.9 and 2017 Pros, all 3 apps would be fully active.
Yeah. Same resolution as iPP 12.9 with higher PPI would've been my preference. Mind, if the app uses a layout optimized for 12.9, that could make for really small text and graphics on a 10.5" screen so I understand why Apple chose to introduce a new resolution instead.I do find the 10.5" resolution really odd though. I think I would have preferred iPad mini PPI. This just makes it more difficult for App developers to have to adjust to yet another resolution.
I will look at the new 12“ in September.
Until then I will look at the beta to see if more power justifies an upgrade.
Besides the TrueTone and new A10 I currently see no need to place an order today.
The iMac looks tempting, the Pro will be too expensive
Does the 9.7" Pro not have the full functionality of iOS 11? What exactly is limited?
