that 120 hz thing is truly revolutionary, you have no idea how much this will improve user experience all over the place.

just to clarify, both new iPad pros have that 120 hz right ?

Keyboard flick is available on all compatible iPad models except iPad Pro (12.9-inch).

so IPP2 has:
1) better display, brighter (600nits) that is making user experience in reading content very nice thanks to its 120hz
2) better pencil support thanks to the newer display
3) lighter
4) better cameras
5) 30% better cpu and 40% better GPU
6) Apple’s custom-designed antireflective coating
7) iOS11
8) ??

combine all of these with the ios11 features, it will be nice to have a smooth user exp at 120hz while drag and drop, reading etc
Don't think iOS 11 is coming with it. I feel like yesterday was a bit of false advertising for people who don't know better. Showing off iOS 11 on new iPads yet they'll ship with iOS 10.

I've owned my 12.9 Pro since March 2016...

The 10.5 Pro isn't on my radar and won't be until I hear how much RAM it has. I find it interesting that Apple decided to release a 10.5 Pro when the additions included in iOS 11 give even greater justification for the 12.9 Pro. I heavily use multi-window and multitasking on the 12.9 and it's going to be even better in iOS 11.

But if the 10.5 Pro comes with 4GB RAM, I will need to seriously consider THAT.

The internal updates to the 12.9 Pro aren't enough to get me to consider upgrading. The current 12.9 Pro is still a beast.

I am willing to bet the 10.5 comes with 4GB RAM. They want their flagship (10.5 Pro) to handle the new multitasking as smoothly as possible.

doesnt matter, its just a matter of time. probably people who already making the purchase now, they will start and install ios11 beta

I currently have the 9.7 pro and the original 12.9 pro. I upgraded both today to the 10.5 pro and the new 12.9 pro. My wife is taking the 9.7 pro and I'll be selling the old 12.9. Pretty bummed about not having back covers for the new iPads...anyone know if the old silicone back case for the 12.9 will work on the new one?

im going to holdout and see if they improved the pencil. ive never been fond of the pencil feeling. 4gb of ram is pretty sorry specs for 2017

Where in the heck do you get this 4 GB of RAM as being pretty sorry specs for iPad? 4 GB on an Apple iPad 12.9 inch is pretty doggone good and I have never had any problems whatsoever with my 12.9 inch and I daresay many others if not most others have never had problems either. I've never heard one complaint on this board, not one.

I hope so. The same could've been said for their previous flagship (9.7 Pro) though. Granted iOS 11 expands the functionality of multitasking/multiwindowing so it makes sense to be 4GB... but I also know that what makes sense to me rarely makes sense to Apple. :)

That's a good point also. Really a shame for those who had the 9.7 pro. I had one that I sold a while ago. You would think that a device a year old would get the same iOS 11 features as the new iPad.

I agree. 12.9 iPP has 4gigs of RAM and perform absolutely wonderful. Running iOS 11 on it now and I’m definitely loving it.. feels like I’m running a whole new iPad.

But if I do plan on updating in the future it would be the new 12.9 iPP primarily because I’m so accustomed to the larger screen. The 10.5 iPP looks awesome, but the screen real estate on the 12.9 iPP is a benefit for me that I won’t pass up.

For those that have the current 12.9 iPP and looking to upgrade... I’m genuinely curious to why, true tone display? 120hz? Better camera? I’ll look for one when I can get one at a discount... definitely not now.

What really bugs me with iOS more so viewing on the 12.9 iPad Pro a lot, is embedded Youtube videos are always usually awful and never HD in Safari. I despise that.

I'll be giving the 10.5 iPP a serious look if it has 4GB RAM. I want to see how "cramped" (relatively speaking) it feels using iOS 11 compared to the 12.9. I also want to see if 10.5 is big enough reduction in overall size to increase portability.

I suspect that it won't effectively be more portable but it won't feel cramped. I'm in no rush the current 12.9 looks to be good for another 2 years at least. :)

I've been an Apple user since the IIc, but haven't priced an iPad in years and didn't realize how advanced these things had gotten. A maxed out iPad with keyboard and stylus now exceeds the cost of the entry macbook pro.

Out of curiosity, what types of things are you folks use these high-end iPads for? Are they a laptop replacement? Gaming? Professional content creation?

The fact that Apple didn't mirror the shrunken bezels in the 12.9 shows you it's all planned as gimmicky upgrades in the next model.

How does the current iOS 11 build feel on the iPad? Super buggy? Animation lags? Anything like that. I ordered a 10.5 and I plan on loading iOS 11 right away. Just trying to get some perspective on how it should work for a daily driver. I enjoy the beta process and don't mind some hiccups here and there, just hoping for overall relatively stable.

iOS 11 feature-wise, does the 1st gen 12.9 have everything the 2nd gen 10.5 and 12.9 do?

Granted this is a beta 1... it does have some sluggishness, but nothing that bad to the point I have to revert back to stable version.

Also, I’m using this on 12.9 iPP running A9X... if your gonna run it on 10.5 iPP it will be using A10X therefore it might perform more better.

Running it on my 7 Plus as well.. it’s sluggish as well. But I understand the process of how betas work, but this being beta 1... it’s usable for a daily driver. Haven’t experienced any crashes thus far.

They wont update the ipad in september. There's literally zero reason for them to do that.
You misunderstood. I know they will not update in September ;)

I meant to say I will not consider buying one until September.
Since I have the current 12,9", I can test the Betas and decide if I really want the updated display and performance if I think the features would justify an upgrade.

I'm sure the AR stuff will be heavily optimized for the new Ax GPU.

Sticking with my 1st gen iPad Pro 32gb, I didn't see a reason to make the jump to a new one this time. I'll probably wait at least 2 more gens to pickup a new iPad.. unless I see a used one for cheap. IOS 11 works just fine on it.. obviously some bugs but that doesn't have anything to do with the hardware.

I think that'll be fine for me then. I put it on my 7 Plus and there are some glitches and sluggishness, but definitely nothing that I can't live with. I just know that iOS 10 beta was pretty bad on my 9.7 Pro so I was hoping this one was better.
