Keep current. Still valuable. Its refresh rate is the only thing changed and maybe 7mp front camera.

Stick with current model. iOS 11 is the bigger upgrade, and it's free.

I currently have a 12.9" Pro, a 9.7" Pro and an iPad mini 4... I plan on upgrading to a 10.5" iPad Pro next week: Space Gray, Wifi, either 256 or 512 GB. I'm a big fan of the smaller bezels and the extra storage will come in handy for building up my movie collection in iTunes. Especially if I get the 512 GB option. Right now my mini is 128GB, my 9.7" Pro is 128GB And my 12.9" is only 32GB. So even 256 GB is a substantial upgrade in my case. I will not be getting rid of any of my old iPads though. I will be using the 9.7" and 10.5" as my main tablets and the 12.9" for home use. My mini will remain on the shelf for now as a backup if I ever need it.

Can't wait to check out how the A10X Fusion chip runs on the 10.5" and can't wait to try all the new features in IOS11 this fall!

Not quite. There is more incorporated than just the 120 HZ rate and upgraded camera. The large storage tier, added Tru-Tone display, A10X processor, improved Pencil Support latency at 20ms, improved 600 Nits of screen brightness, screen reflectivity is at 1.8 % (2015 12.9 model was at 2.6%), Gen 2 Touch ID, Will now sync at 3 USB speeds (Where 2015 model could not.) Larger 41 WH battery (2015 12.9 has 38 WH). And actually weighs less as well at 677 Grams compared to 713 Grams in 2015 model.

I really like the portability of the 10.5, but l love the big screen of the 12.9, i currently own a 12.9.

For me it would have been better if Apple had released just one model, a 11.3 to 11.6 ipad pro, with the smaller bezels.
But i understand they did not want to the new smallest ipad pro to be much bigger than the 9.7 inch.
So i have to make a choice.
Will go to the apple store next week and compare the 2.
If only the 10.5 had the same res as the 12.9 at 326dpi, or the new 12.9 had the new design. Would still be a hard choice, like it is now.

And there is also a possibility that apple will add an entire black model(and a rose gold 12.9) to their line-up with the press event in september. Just to boost sales a little in the last quarter.

Other than those....but to spend another 1k?

Crazy part about all of this choosing an iPad business is that the $329 Ipad actually fits most people's needs lol.

Yes, and a lada fits most people when they need a car, it transports you from a to b.
But it is about the way you travel, and if you can keep using it for the next 5 years.
There is quite a difference between a laminated, 120 hz refresh, truetone, wide color gamut screen, paired with the fastest cpu, than the " budget" model. It is ok for a budget model.

You don' t have to spend another 1k, sell the old one and spend about $300.

Just how many people will truly find these features useful while still trying to conquer the pitfalls of iOS limitations. Your greatest feature was the new file manager which is not their until the Fall...most people won't even notice the 120 Hz unless they actually draw or even use the Apple pencil.

And Samsung conquers displays so since iPad pro is not oled nor a higher ppi...no need to even mention it's display.

Where are the screen reflectivity specs for the new 12.9 available? I hope this is true as the old 12.9 is noticeably more reflective than the 9.7 pro.

Have you seen the 120hz display? I heard from people that had a hands on with the new pro' s it a significant improvement (MKHBD, John Gruber), especially without the pencil, and the iPad Pro 9.7 with truetone and wide color gamut, had been tested as one of the best displays on displaymate, and the new pro's have higher contrast as that one, so..... Except for deeper blacks i would not choose a oled with android/touchwizz over an iPad Pro with IOS, and a CPU/gpu that laps the android counterparts three times...

Actually the most compelling upgrade is the A10X. The reason being, as fast as the A9X is, these mobile processors are just starting to mature as desktop class. A10X is faster than the M3 of the 2017 Macbook, and the new Macbook is a workhorse. If you really need this for work as a Pro user, you will feel more productive as it loads pages a bit faster, load apps a bit faster, etc. etc.

What really is compelling for my use case is Safari performance. If there is a real world difference, as long as it can handle more and more complex websites, the better for me, though native apps are not an issue.

Websites and pro web apps are computationally intensive.

No brainer for me. Stick with my 1st gen 12.9 incher!

For the sake of a better screen it isnt worth the hassle imo. My 12.9 is already awesome and the performance still hasn't been properly tested yet. Ios 11 should run completely peachy on the 1st gen 12.9 and looks great.

1st gen woes? Lol, what of them :p

The first gen 12.9 is still absolutely awesome. That being said, I'm selling it and getting the new one for 120 Hz, TrueTone and 512 GB. Can't wait :)

I had the 12.9" for about a year and then sold it to buy the 9.5" because the 12.9" was just too large for my liking. I think the 9.5" is a bit too small though, so I think I'll be buying the 10.5".

This should be a good upgrade if you thought the 9.7 was too small. From videos, it looks to be just a little bit bigger though and not quite the 'in between the two' I think a lot of people had thought.

Ha that's for 'next year' when shrinking the bezels is done with the physical device and no home button... Just kidding.. all speculation.

I sold my 32GB 12.9" iPad Pro on OfferUp for $450 and am soon to be a happy owner of a 512GB 12.9" iPad Pro - had to go with 32GB at the time for financial reasons - so thrilled to not be constantly angry at storage limitations!

Excited for the new features of gen 2 - but storage is the big reason to upgrade - happy to reuse my existing pencil and Smart Keyboard to make that aspect not another financial ask.

You know what...i changed my opinion. Get ipp 12.9 ..its cheaper than previous generation.

I might actually buy a 10.5” from Costco to find out if features are useful despite iOS but we still get true tone, upgraded processor, display colors, nits etc. I cannot really imagine the 10.5 not slaughtering my current 12.9 pro though.

Why Costco? 90 day returns. I repeat, 90 day returns!

I bought a 12.9 but will compare it to my current 12.9 to see if I should keep or return.
with the RAM still at 4GB the 12.9" upgrade from last year to this year isn't worth it, unlike the 9.7" to 10.5" which jumps from 2 to 4GB RAM
