iPad 3G - Apple Store availability

I've been in a tent in the desert for the last week and now that I've returned to "civilization", I'd like to pick up an iPad 3G. I'm in no hurry, but if I could pick one up today it wouldn't break my heart...

Are the retail stores sold out of iPad 3G's or is it worth giving them a call?

in the time it took you to log in and write this, you could have called all the local stores. how would we know. in my local store they are not sold out.
 
I called yesterday, they were out, said they get shipments every day, but they don't what will be in each shipment.

I would reserve one at the Apple store, or order online (1-2 week wait at least).
 
There are 3 Apple Stores 30-45 miles away from me and I only have 2 quarters for the payphone at the corner 7-11.

Now I know it's at least worth making the calls and panhandling for another quarter if the first two don't have them.

At my local Apple store, I was told that they don't have any 3G's in stock, but they are receiving some every day that are being made available first to those that reserve them in the store by getting added to their "Notify Me" list.

They believe that once on the list, one should be able to get their iPad 3G in 2-3 days.

I just called your local Apple Stores for you and they are all sold out, sorry. One guy told me they won't be restocking for at least 3 weeks so good luck with that.

Can you do this by calling them?
I called and they only had wifi 16gb ipad
 
i did reserve yesterday at the store. they are saying 2 or 3 days guaranteed.. i called today and there is no shipment for the 3G. i am hoping tomoroow will be the day.

So you have to go to the store to "reserve" a 3g? or can you just call and ask for them to "reserve" one for me? (it'd be extremely helpful if I didn't have to go all the way to the store just to have to go back in three days time)

You can call them and reserve it. They'll send you an email when it arrives.

I just called my local Apple store and the Genius told me you have to be there in person to reserve it....

WOW!! Quarters for the corner pay phone? Maybe you should be thinking about buying a cell phone instead of an ipad.
 
all my stores are out and I get the typical "We don't know" answer to when they'll get more

Sadly this is true, just called and you have to go to the apple store to be on the "notify me" list, guess I'll have to go all the way to the store now
So seriously they take about 2 to 3 days to get you one? (forgot to ask)
