Well...I think I just decided give up on 3G and keep my wifi. On sunday...I was willing to drive to Houston for 3G.

A good thread last night talked me out of it...thinking that $360/year isn't worth a few extra minutes of connectivity especially when I already have a smart phone. Maybe the next model.

I needed to return my wifi tonight...and if the 3G had been replenished on last nights truck I might be talking a different story.

I was in line at the Apple store in Salt Lake City on the 30th for the 3G launch. They sold out of 16gb 3G's before I could get one. An employee came down the line and took names and email addresses to get a reservation for their next shipment. Still haven't received mine.

Yeah, i'm on a waiting list also.

I'm not expecting results. Would be nice though.

I know it'll happen eventually. However, I just know that the moment I order one online I'll get the email saying my reserved iPad is waiting for me.:(

That's right, and then there's like 5 days watching the grass grow, envisioning all the happy campers with their white apple bags :D

Haha. I fully intend to be in line for the iPhone HD (or whatever it'll be called) launch just so I can have my own little white bag. :apple:

Sadly this is true, just called and you have to go to the apple store to be on the "notify me" list, guess I'll have to go all the way to the store now

:eek:Not true in NYC. I called & got on the list, then got this from Apple:

"Your iPad will be here before you know it. Keep an eye out for an email from us letting you know it's ready to pick up. When you come in, we'll have Specialists ready to help you set up your iPad so you can start enjoying it right away. We look forward to seeing you at the store.

Sincerely,
The Apple Retail Store team"

Then it must be different for each store I guess, I'll be calling many different stores tomorrow to see if one will let me do this! much easier than going to the store in person
Hope it does work

I keep dropping iPhones and breaking them, so I've been thinking I'd be less likely to drop a giant iPhone running Skype.

Oh that logic is flawed...... You keep dropping $300 devices, so you are going to buy a device that costs twice as much that you are probably just as likely to drop.

Seriously though, I can't imagine using my iPad as my sole phone. It is not intended for that and I think it would be awkward and extremely limiting. Get a cheap phone, it does not have to b an iPhone. Use the cheap phone as your phone and your iPad as your everything else.

Also, why would you have had to pan handle for additional quarters, do you not have a spare dollar to get change at the 7-11?

Well, the store here met their promise of 2-3 days. Today is day 3 after I signed up on the "Notify Me" list and I just received this e-mail this morning:
Congratulations, your iPad is here.

The iPad you've been waiting for has arrived, and it's ready for you to pick up. When you come in, we'll have Specialists ready to help you set up your iPad so you can start enjoying it right away. We can't wait to see you at the store.

Sincerely,
The Apple Retail Store team
This is at one of the stores in the Pittsburgh area, so it's certainly possible that other stores may have different lead times for iPad availability.

Still waiting on mine in Tampa. I have a 32gb WiFi and have since day one. I have had it long enough to know how great it is, and how pissed off I get when I am waiting somewhere without access. Looking forward to the 3g. The Wifi has replaced my Macbook(sold) and I will leave it upstairs. Can use it to stream TV in the bathroom (eyetv) and general use. The 3g goes with me.

Its an outstanding product, but it did take about a week to grab hold. Grows on ya like herpes.

Like herpes eah?

Can we use that in the commercial? :D

They've been sold out at least 3-4 days in Oakland, Ca. (Emeryville.). It was no problem for me to call and get placed on the waiting list, 3 days ago.

Give them a call when you have the chance. Also in another thread, Tekserve on 23rd street has them in stock. I picked up a 64gb 3G from them this afternoon.

Well I've got one on order through Apple supposed to be delivered May 11th to 15th, ordered it yesterday.

I just got off the phone with the local Apple store and got someone to give me something else than the standard line. Said they are coming in every day and it depends on what models you reserve.

I reserved a 16gb 3G about 2 minutes ago so we'll see if it shows up before my online order.

I don't understand why people post here asking us if there is stock in an apple store. The time it takes you to post that question, you can call the store and get an up to date answer yourself.

Even if someone on here knew they had stock, maybe cause they bought one an hour ago, that's an hour ago, they could all be gone by now.

Also, you asked the same thing in another thread and you got the same answer.

Do you really need to understand or can you be comfortable with the fact that a number of people like to use the forums for this? :D

In this free country of ours you get to select the forums you wish to spend your time looking at. If this type does not interest you, you can spend time on the ones that do.

Unless of course you're just fascinated with the psychology of why some people like to use forums for this type of questions and would like to discuss. If so, my post might be considered a bit snippy.

My issue comes when the forums I like to read become mucked up with posts like that. It's the same thing like when people call a radio station with absolutely nothing to say but they wanna hear their voice on the radio.

I think some people post just to see their username in bold letters. Or maybe they are just trying to boost their post count so they can add a avatar to their profile.

One thing you said was right one. No matter what the reason, I am completely fascinated with the completely disillusioned thought process that some have that makes these kind of questions seem like a good idea to them.
