My Air 2 is very new - that may help too :D (Jan 8 2017).

You got it at just the right time then before they dropped some of its best features for more of a focus on performance!

I’m on iOS 11 on on my iPad Air 2. While it is very buggy, it runs fine. I’m sure it’s a lot slower in processing some of those graphics that Apple showed in their keynote, but my job doesn’t require that stuff. I work solely on my Air 2 and iPhone.

Not sure if I’d upgrade to a pro model right now. The pencil would be useful, but not at the moment. Plus that damn camera bump really bothers me. I wish they’d stop with the bumps.

iOS 11 for the iPad is every thing Apple said, it really adds a lot of functionality to the device. I work much quicker, and I don’t think I could, work on a Mac or PC ever again. It’s just quicker on the iPad. I think iOS 11 will shut up a lot of the iPad complainers (especially here) that say they can’t do work on the iPad.

Do you think this will be the case upon the public release or just an early beta thing?

I had a beta on my iPhone 5 of iOS 8 and it sucked, but the public release fixed all that!

I'm definitely upgrading - double the ram (probably), double the available storage, faster processor and better screen, Apple ✏️ capability. I leave my iPad at home (have work iMac) except for travel. I use it constantly, mostly for research and PDFs. I'm a writer and like having the ability to draft something on my desktop laptop w/external screen, then send it to my iPad for armchair tweaking. I also teach college kids and digitize their work - in fact I digitize almost all docs I need to carry, view, and annotate, both personal and professional. My iPad is an extension of my brain, basically. Don't know what I'd do without it!

I ‘m sure it’ll improve but yeah, with betas come bugs. I’m contemplating downgrading, but the features are too good to give up. The swipe for other keys is fantastic. And, while there isn’t an force touch, long press does the same thing and works great.

I'm happy with my Air 2, but I decided I would buy the second Pro because I wanted the Pencil. This is a big uparade for Air 2 users. Was just confirmed by Serenity Caldwell to have 4GB of RAM too. It's good timing for me because my grandparents old, cracked iPad 4th gen is on its last legs and won't get iOS 11, so this will be an excellent iPad for them! Eight times the storage of their 16GB, and iCloud storage family sharing means they won't run out of space any more!

I sold my Air 2 64GB today and ordered the 10.5" 256 GB. Bigger/better screen, 120 Hz, four speakers, and pencil support all swayed me, but the #1 factor was 2nd gen Touch ID. Since I got this feature on my iPhone, it just made the iPad seem unbearably slow to unlock.

I've had an Air 2 since they first came out, but was seduced early last year by the siren song of the 12.9" iPad Pro. I bought it, and it's a fine device, but for me it's a little too big. I actually find my 12" 2016 MacBook to be much more portable, so I find myself grabbing that instead.

I just ordered a 10.5" iPad Pro and will see how it feels. I'm hoping that it's the goldilocks of iPads and will let me sell both the Air 2 and 12.9" iPad.

Can you elaborate on what pro features you want to use and why you want to use it? The way you phrased it, it sounds like the pro features is more so a "maybe" for you that may or may not pan out entirely.

I am an Air 2 user that just ordered the 12.9". My use for this is to make it a portable laptop-ish device (the only laptop I own are fat, low end chromebooks) and for notes / studying. The added bonus of photo editing with precision is also there. I didn't see a need to update since I had graduated college around the time the 1st gen 12.9" was released.

I am still on the fence and annoyed that I haven't been able to make a decision! If the Air 2 was slowing down, it'd be a no-brainer. But, it's a darn fine device & still meeting my needs.

When rumors were that the new iPad Pro was going to be released in March/April, I had it all figured out. I'd give the Air 2 to my sister for her 50th BD and buy the new iPad Pro for myself. Of course, that didn't go as planned. :D Ended up getting sis a new 5th gen iPad back in April.

Now, with no one needing my old iPad, I'm having a hard time justifying the IPP to myself. I don't use the iPad for work - my company is extremely security-conscious & only company-provided devices can be used. But, I WANT it for the improved speakers, bigger size, better screen, speed, and the Smart Keyboard.

Not even a little tempted. The new 10.5 would provide only the most minimal improvements given what I do with my iPad, and my iPad Air 2 functions perfectly. I use my iPad almost exclusively for media consumption, while my mac is used for work, and I like that distribution of labor. Despite the gains the iPad has made, I cannot possibly use it as a primary productivity machine.

Both of you are probably right. As an iPad the air 2 works great.

I am happy with my retina MacBook too - which I got in 2014. So really I'm covered.

I am still thinking of getting the 10.5 with a pen - I believe I'll be able to get more back if I sell the iPad Air 2 now rather than a year or two from now. But still deciding.

I also have an Air 2 & 2014 MacBook Pro & am happy with both. I'd love an Apple Watch Also waiting to see the next iPhone to replace my 6S Plus.

Must admit though, the prospect of more screen size is tempting, I use my Air 2 a lot & do some work on it. The price point on the 64GB Pro isn't bad. Sigh...I want all the nice things :)

Don't blame you! I ended up pulling the trigger myself. Hopefully will notice a difference!

I can't help but think regular iPad will go 10.5" next refresh. It doesn't make sense for them to have two slightly different sizes with all the associated accessories etc. When they could instead share many of the same components.

I am not interested in a keyboard cover or stylus and so the Pro doesn't really add much for me. I also don't understand why they include such a high spec rear camera. Who is taking photos with a 10.5" or 12.9" tablet? Surely it's much more convenient to use a phone camera.

I sold my Air 2 64GB SG today at work for £270; i did'nt realise it was still a hot cake until i was bombarded with calls, skype chats & emails shortly after it was listed. Naturally the 10.5 inch 256GB just got cheaper, the Pencil arrived today too so am ready to go totally Pro:)

Me too! I love the iPad Pro for working - emails, PDFs, Word etc but when it comes to down time, especially watching Netflix in bed, Facebook etc, I prefer to reach for the Air 2. I got the big pro mainly for the Apple Pencil and the ability to write handwritten notes but the Smart Keyboard, split screen and extra real real estate are really useful.

I often catch myself wishing I could jot down notes with my Apple Pencil on my Air 2 (and even my iPhone 6s Plus) and I would like to simplify back to just a single iPad so I'm really hoping that 10.5 is big enough? Looking forward to hearing people's experiences before I make up my mind whether to jump on board now or wait another year to decide.

Thinking I'll keep my air 2. Having better speakers would be nice but I'm not sure if it's worth the upgrade. If they would have gone with an all screen design like iPhone 8 is supposed to be I'd upgrade. Also since the screen is going to be wider. That will mean larger black bars when watching video content?

I'm upgrading from my Air 2, which I bought at launch so it's approaching 3 years old. I've been iPad only for several years, so I'm looking forward to the bigger screen, but especially the pencil. As a professor, marking up essay will be much easier.

Once in a case that bump won't bother you anymore!

Keeping my Air 2, at least until the 10.5 is available refurb. It's rock solid, fast and fully feature compatible with iOS 11.

Was thinking about it. Not that I need to upgrade as netflix and safari still works fine but I wanted 3D Touch and it's missing. I know it's hard to implement in a large screen but they did it with the pen in a beta. Would have been enouh for me to upgrade and try out some doodling.

I ordered one yesterday. While the Air 2 still works for what I use it for, it's SLOW compared to my iPhone 7 plus. I've waited patiently since the Air 2 launch, and I decided now is the time! I'll hold onto this 10.5 for at least three years...

I pre-ordered a 10.5 pro to replace my Air 2 yesterday after the announcement. I have wanted the pro for sometime now for the keyboard and the pencil. At one point I was interested in the 12.9 inch and was waiting for that to be upgraded, but after using it a few times in the store, I think it it just too big for me for everyday use. I also had another reason to push me to upgrade. My Mom is currently using my old iPad 3 which no longer receives updates and is getting slow. I will now give her my Air 2 which will be a nice free upgrade for her and is, in my opinion, a better iPad than the new cheaper iPad since it has the laminated screen with less glare for her eyes. We will both be happy campers!!!

If I upgrade to the 10.5 inch Pro. My Air 2 stays in the family because the screen is better & it's 64GB. My son would probably get it, my husband has my Air 1 but only uses it for Netflix.

That's how I feel my Air 2 is still smooth and quick but I notice in a game I play it is a lag fest I'm talking probably 8-10fps if I zoom out the level. It's sad then it's butter on my iPhone 7 and I'm thinking you know maybe it's time to upgrade but I just don't know man. Since really 95% of what I do with it is smooth and plenty quick.

I thought you were upgrading to the 10.5? Or have you not made your mind up yet? At least that's what I thought you stated from what I recall from a different thread.
