Here is a update. I'm deciding bewtween a new MacBook Pro 13inch or the 12.9inch iPad Pro

Tough decision. However, you have been iPad oriented since the beginning of March On here. I'm surprised you're even considering a MacBook. (Even though it's a great machine.)

In my opinion, the 12.9 Pro would serve as an iPad for when you want it to be an iPad and a desktop, if you add on the Smart Keyboard. So you could have the best of both worlds, which I think is the dependent if you want macOS over iOS.

I agree I keep telling myself idk but really I'm gonna go with the 12.9inch it's the more affordable, powerful, and logical choice.

Owned an Air 2 since launch and it has to be said that at the time it was overpowered which is now helping it remain relevant today. iOS 11 will be the 4th version of iOS to run on the Air 2 and I was really expecting this to be the year it struggled, but I’m over the moon at how well it performs on beta 1.

And the good news is that it’ll only get better as the final public build approaches.

Definitely. My iPad is my most used device, more than my iPhone and way more than my macbook.
I use mine mainly for consumption and games but not only. I do some spreadsheets, some photo editing stuff, some mail...
The update seems substantial to me :
- better screen (10.5", 120Hz, P3, improved anti reflecting coating)
- better performance (A10x, 4GB ram)
- better sound
- touch ID 2
- USB 3
- quick charge
- better functionality (pen and keyboard)
- close in size and weight

it depend on your needs I guess. I upgraded my air 1 to air 2 and gave my 1 to my wife since she had a mini. Then I ended up using my MBP early 2011 and using more the air 2.

Then I decided to buy a new 2016 MBP 13 inch with bar. For myself, this portability and power. My new MBP holds 11-12 hours battery, so more than my air 2. I do all my stuff on the MBP and using the air 2 for amazon prime video, plex and reading books. My 9 years old daughter is using the air 2 more often than me.

The pensil is nice to have, but I am still very happy with the air 2, so I wont upgrade for now

This thread is the embodiment of why iPads are doing just fine and looking at sales numbers =/= demand. So many iPad Air 2 owners who are completely happy with their device and will either keep it or are buying an iPad Pro "just because." So much for Apple's "planned obsolescence."

By the way, while carrying a small progeny a while back, I busted my iPad Air 2's screen up, but it's still usable. The iPad Pro 10.5" is enough for me to upgrade. I'll be doing so shortly.

I've had the Air 2 since July of 2015 and it's been a rock solid device. Amazing battery life, and it has performed flawlessly in the cockpit for me. I use it mainly for Aviation. Can't say enough about it.

Well I just sold it about 10 seconds ago and ordered a 64GB Space Gray 10.5". Looking forward to the display enhancements and increased brightness/low reflectance in the cockpit. The Air 2 at 400 nits even with its anti-reflective coating was mighty tough to see in direct sunlight so I think this new Pro will be just the ticket! I'm also excited for Displaymate to give it a whirl.

At the moment, I'm leaning toward upgrading my Air 2 to the Pro 10.5 when my contract expires, which will just happen to coincide with the iOS 11 release.

In the U.K., on O2, the 2GB Pro 10.5 contract is only £6.50 more per month than my current Air 2 contract.

The biggest reason for me to upgrade is the larger screen and choosing a different colour from my Air 2. The iPad looking different as I use it will definitely justify the upgrade a lot more.

Other features worth upgrading for: slimmer side bezels; true tone; brighter, wider colour, less reflective display; extra RAM for all iOS 11 features (3 apps simultaneously); quad speakers; better cameras with wide colour capture; faster processor is always good; potential to use the Pencil.

Also, I'm just a sucker for new computers, but that list is a damn good upgrade list to an already amazing computer.

This forum is a very small subset of Apple device purchasers and are not representative of the general buying public. In the real world, I'm guessing the $329 iPad will be the most popular model.

I would agree. And an iPad forum on MacRumors is nothing more than a utopia of tech enthusiasts that want the latest and greatest specifications and hardware. However, in reality, there are many people that don't have knowledge or experience with iPad as many of these forum members on here. That said, the starting entry iPad will likely suit for many as it's Budgeted and will be used for various media tasks, which most will likely use it for.

Not to mention, the Pro features for every day users may not necessarily find the Pro features enough for them (Even though a lot of heavy tech users will appreciate all the technical upgrades). They just want an iPad for the sake of having something that could be Apple related that is quality and meets their needs for media consumption.

Yes! Last years update was dissapointing to say the least. The 9.7 Pro was a lukewarm, underpowered, and half baked product. The 10.5 is a significant improvement and that's why i decided to upgrade. My Air 2 performs well and is in mint condition. It will be going to my Mom, she's very excited! It served me well and it was worth the money when I bought it at launch in 2014. I've learned to only buy the sequel's to iPad's and will continue to do so in the future.

I wish I could justify it to my wife, but if I'm being honest, my Air 2 is completely adequate. I'd really only be getting the 10.5 because I want it, not because I need it. The bigger size would be really nice, but let's face it, if you don't need a pen, which I don't, the Air 2 is comparable, just smaller. I sure do want one though.

Sold!

Does 10.5 honestly have a usb 3 port?
Amazing I often find usb lacking via air a nuisance.

Decisions....

Yeah...price.

(And "better" is only better if one values that which is being evaluated. Many care little about said list if their current device already performs with excellence.)

from eye perspective, if you care about your health, you want an 120hz ipad
so, an old pc/laptop that barely works is your thing here? if it works no need for better overall device?
wrong, with ios11 i think the ipad air 2 will start to struggle when you do some work in 2 apps simulations. I mean if you want and care about 60 fps working device, you need to have ipad pro 1 or 2 with iOS11
If you are in Apple world, price should not be so much important

...so you're supposing that NOW the iPad Pro is healthier than iPad Air 2 and that money is of no object to iPad owners? Interesting....
