I had an iPad Air 2 with 16gb and replaced it with a 10.5 256gb because I was constantly running out of space. I debated getting the regular iPad, but in for a penny...

If I had originally bought the iPad Air 2 with 3w or 64gb of space, I probably would not have gotten the Pro.

Now I'm looking to use the 10.5 as a full laptop replacement. I just need to find a keyboard that I like. If I can I will seriously consider selling my 2013 MBP.

So I also stopped by the old Apple Store today to check out the iPads, but I had the opposite reaction to most of you. I'm keeping my iPad Air 2. The screen was nice, but I was getting a little nauseous looking at it for a while. Maybe it was because I was playing with the promotion feature - flicking the screen a lot, but I don't really need it.

my air 2 64 gig is still doing everything I need it to do with ease. And based what I've seen in videos and posts, it appears that it will do fine for me on iOS 11, so I may keep it for another year at least. Only thing I wish it had was the 4 speakers

Same here, my Air 2 is mainly a leisure device which I use for light e-mails, browsing and media consumption. Although I am very tempted by the new iPad Pros, I can't really justify it when my Air 2 is working just fine.

I am easily swayed though, so having been staying away from Apple Stores for the last 2 weeks! Ignorance is bliss....

UPDATE: So, I sold off my Air 2 to put towards the cost of the 10.5; the only question really remains as to whether or not I will move up to the 256GB from the 64GB but other than that, this 10.5 version has been pretty remarkable. I think, for me, while the Air 2 was a phenomenal device, there are more perks to this upgrade than screen or performance. I have been interested in having pencil and keyboard support (which I also bought) and with the Air 2 I didn't have that. That alone has made it a worthy upgrade from the Air 2. The smart keyboard works very well in terms of portability and I didn't think it made the iPad as heavy as I initially thought it would. Typing on the keyboard has worked very well which is something that will be crucial, and I enjoy using the pencil even when I'm just browsing through content and not having to touch using my fingers.

All in all, this version has convinced me to jump after 3 years of the Air 2 and I'm confident I can go at least 3 with this Pro and get plenty of use out of it when I don't want to grab my MacBook Pro.

For me in the long run it wasn't worth $700 to have apps load a few seconds faster. Just returned mine and will stick with the air 2 until the next version of the 10.5 even if that's 2 years from now.

Hi, there is a thread about pro 9.7 owners moving to a 10.5 but was wondering about the Air 2 owners.

Are you thinking of upgrading? Is your use just consumption and therefore you aren't? Do you think it's a decent upgrade?

My husband got the pro 9.7 last year and it never tempted me to upgrade (he upgraded from an air 1). But the 10.5 is tempting me more. I think currently I don't use the pro functions, I have a MacBook for computer needs. But given a pen and a 10.5 I may.

Would be good to know your thoughts!

For reference I own the ipad air as well as the air 2. I just upgraded to the ipad pro 10.5 & could not be happier.
the extra screen brightness alone is worth the upgrade if you take it outdoors. The smooth scrolling & overall fluidness
via 120 hz refresh is outstanding. Having 4 speakers instead of 2 is an absolute game changer in my book.
A bigger screen in essentially the same form package is awesome.
Being able to use the apple pencil which I also purchased is something I thought I didn't
need until I received it. I just received it a few days ago so still kicking the tires but coming from an air 2 to this in my
humble opinion is worth every dime.

I have an Air 1 and I'm actually thinking about returning the Pro. I just can't see 1000 Euros extra in it.

Maybe its because I just use the old Air for safari and mails and some basic apps. But as another poster said, the apps do lot faster, but I'm not sure its worth that kind of money for that.

Im a heavy phone user, I might just divert the funds to an 8 instead.

such a first world problem, i use my Air 2 in the living room and my new iPad Pro in the bed room. only bought it cuz there was no tax in Dubai

I am thinking of buying either the 10.5 or the 12.9 inch iPad to replace my Air 2 since I dropped it and cracked the screen. Does the larger iPad feel too big to hold ?

For extended periods of time, yes.

If you're not planning to use the 12.9" as a laptop replacement (for browsing, email, forums, and light MS Office work, photo editing) and if you're not using as a digital sketch book / note pad, I think the 10.5" is a better choice by a lot.

Just think about what you're actually going to be using it for on a day-to-day basis.

edit: I upgraded from an iPad Air 2 to a 12.9" and have zero regrets. One of the best purchases I've made in a long time. I use it every day.

I was thinking of using Lightroom on it but I don't know if could get used to it vs. bring along my laptop to use Lightroom.
I know it wont be a laptop replacement. I am used to my TB MBP.

My "Apple cogs" are turning once again, I'm tempted to do one of several things...

-> Keep the Air 2, save the money and put that towards my first trip to the US next year (those flights from Europe are expensive!). Use it as I have been up until now: a consumption device and nothing else.
-> Keep the Air 2, sell my MBA and get a rMB. I do type a LOT and have found, that to do some proper "work", I do still prefer taking my MBA and working on that. It's still doing well, but I've been tempted by the rMB for a couple of months.
-> Sell the Air 2, keep the MBA and get an iPP. Probably 10.5, 256Gb. I do like the cellular version, but adding the Apple Pencil and Apple Care+ is taking me close to 1000€. Not sure if I really NEED Cellular enough to warrant 150€ extra for that and then 5€ a month for my second sim card. Also: The situation with stock has greatly improved, if I order today, most will be there by Friday, apart from the SG 256GB with LTE. That's going to take until mid July!

Decisions decisions, and reading this forum isn't helping

iPads just don't die. That's why I really like them and appreciate their uses even after they stop receiving iOS support. Apple manufactures the best products.
And same applies to iPhones. I still have my iPhone 4S from 2011 it still works fine.i use it as Music Player in my SUV.
Apple hardware is build to last.

When you live in the first world, all your problems are first world problems.

I bought myself the rMB since I use the iPad just for reading and browsing. When it comes to coding or Lightroom, I always prefer the MacBook. So this was an easy choice for me, also considering the air 2 is just fine for what we use it. ;)

I use my 4s as a security camera in my garage, the thing is a tank!! I have it outside in harsh WI winters and extreme hot heats and it still is ticking :)

Right On! My iPad 2 which I bought new in the Year 2011 is still humming along smoothly in reading Kindle Books, listening to Internet Radio and Podcasts and only has one(1) very good speaker.

How's everyone getting on a few months on?

I'm looking to make the same move so can begin the process of handing down my Air 2 to my wife and then our daughter will get the Mini 2.

Worth getting the 256gb over the 64gb? Currently have 64 in the Air 2.

I picked up a 12,9" when I was in Hong kong. Still use my Air 2 since its easier to carry. Love the size and ios 11 on the pro thou
