I don't mind not having a trackpad if I'm honest, for what I use my MacBook for I really think the iPad could replace it for me, for some people that may not be an option. As I say though think I'll have to wait for iOS 11 before making a final decision

If you're still thinking about it 11 days on, you definitely want it so just bite the bullet. Mine delivers on Tuesday.

Btw i sold my Air 2

My Air 2 is very speedy and I will never use my iPad to replace my MacBook Pro. So I won't upgrade because I don't do real work on iPad.

I would actually consider selling my iPad Air 2 if it was not useful or slower than it really was when I first purchased it. But being it's in mint condition and the resale value is abysmal, I decided to keep it. Not only that, it's still performs and runs really strong.

I'm now contemplating on the new 12,9 model. Maybe it's to big but I will adapt. It's just too expensive in norway so will see if I get one when traveling. Air 2 is still running fine!

Yes, really. The air 2 is VERY laggy compared to the iPad Pro 10.5

Then you buy a new iPad every year since iOS will be more snappy with every new iPad release?

The apps I use are not CPU bound by the iPad Air 2 so it is good enough for me.

I don't even think there is an App currently in the App store that maxes out the iPad Air 2.

I did, but I decided I wanted to switch to the iPad as my main device, so the upgrade was necessary.

Air 2 to 10.5" Pro was a dramatic difference for me. It's now just big and powerful enough to feel like a small pc rather than a large iPhone.

I'm referring to ProMotion

The screen size is perfect, the 4 speakers are a huge improvement, it's crazy fast (thought my air 2 was fast) and the battery life is better. My big issue is the image doesn't have as much contrast or pop as much as my air 2. I actually get eye strain on the 10.5 for some reason(I have turned true tone and ProMotion off to see if it helps).

I can't help but think regular iPad will go 10.5" next refresh. It doesn't make sense for them to have two slightly different sizes with all the associated accessories etc. When they could instead share many of the same components.

I am not interested in a keyboard cover or stylus and so the Pro doesn't really add much for me. I also don't understand why they include such a high spec rear camera. Who is taking photos with a 10.5" or 12.9" tablet? Surely it's much more convenient to use a phone camera.
I'm a photographer for a quite a few charities in the South Jersey & Philadelphia area. You would be surprised how many people I see taking pictures with their iPads.

tbh my Air 2 delivered up until I pulled the plug just over a week ago ;no lagfest whatsoever since launch !! If I could'nt upgrade to the 10.5inch I'd still be content with it..

Eye strain is caused by 120Hz refresh rate. Many people already reported that. You can turn the ProMotion off and have a try.

Not sure if I should go for it... I mean, I looked at the 10.5 in the Apple Store (Sindelfingen, Germany) and at first wasn't blown away by it... It was nice, but not absolutely amazing (and yes, I'm very sensitive to framerate drops and bad screens). But the iPad Air 2 already boasts a great screen, although ProMotion is a nice upgrade. I promised myself to stick around with the Air 2 for another year.

... But: I just checked the resale value and I would basically loose 300€ over the price I payed for it when it came out 2,5 years ago... That's quite a good price! So the price hike would be softened a little. The pencil I would love for productivitiy and the thing is future proof. I'm sure the latest I would upgrade is next year to make sure I don't suffer any iOS 12 problems on the Air 2 when the processor becomes a bit too sluggish.

-> BTW first post, been reading along for years. Finally signed up! Hi everyone!

Ehh...I'm 50/50 on parting ways with my Air 2. I find myself getting pretty close to filling up 64gb every so often and it hold less of a charge now. It still works, with little to no lag whatsoever. But I'm a sucker for screen quality and the new 10.5 pro is super tempting. At the very least, I'm going to hold out until after iOS 11 drops to see if it makes a difference. Plus, by then, Apple will certainly have refurbs on their site and Black Friday will be around the corner, so maybe I could save a dollar or two by waiting.

Waiting for November makes perfect sense. iOS 11 will be released in September but the 11.1-11.2 version will be better ironed out. And Black Friday will bring plenty of discounts.

OK, ignore any of my recent comments you may have read about me sticking with my iPad Air 2.

Since playing with the Pro 10.5 two or three times in the store, I'd come away happy with my Air 2. I wasn't blown away by the screen but I did notice I missed it a little when I used my Air 2.

Today, with a caffeine hit and a single sentence of encouragement from a friend, I upgraded to the Pro 10.5.

Now, after reading a book I'd been - up til now - reading on my Air 2, I suddenly 'get' ProMotion. Scrolling slowly as I'm reading, with ProMotion, TrueTone, low reflectivity, and the slim black bezels (all new to me), this thing feels like a moving magazine or newspaper. Scrolling quicker ruins the illusion, but slow scrolling... This is amazing.

Curious how much better is the reflection then the air 2?

I bought one cuz there was no tax in Dubai. How could i not

Curious how much better is the reflection then the air 2?

Reflections are less but the smudges feom your fingers are even more annoying than on my Air 2. so now i got dark "shadows" all over the display which are really hard to wipe of instead of sun reflection. Not sure what is worse yet

I have the Air2, but have been tempted by the 12.9 since they came out. If my local Apple Store had them I would take the plunge. But they have been on back order since the new ones came out. The 12.9 must be more popular than I thought, or just not enough to go around.

Pretty happy with my iPad Air 2--don't use it as much for productivity as I thought I would (or at least promised myself that I would). Hopefully that will change when I get my iPP 10.5 and Apple Pencil--I think the ability to annotate documents, take written notes, and sign forms/documents using the pencil are going to really help get the iPad more into my current workflow...that and the software features in iOS 11.
