10 hours is what Apple says, generally reviewers say this when they don't test. In one of the reviews comparing it to the 11 pro, one reviewer said battery life was slightly less than the 11 pro (without specifying which one).
As for battery capacity, this one is in between the 2018 one (largest) and the 2020 one (smallest), but closer to the 2020 one.
Hope something similar is going on with my order. iPad and AppleCare have both been charged to my credit card but ETA still reflects the delay. Guess I'll know soon enough what's happening.
Yes that darker, more prominent shade of green does look amazing. It was generally washed out in the video though. Marques said he had to deliberately choose what was around the iPad for the color to pop. The smart folio cases for the blue and green are beautiful paired with the Air and make me almost regret the Rose Gold.
If the green and blue weren’t so subtle, I would have chosen one of those.
Received my email from Curry’s U.K. saying my Silver 64g Air 4 has shipped and will be arriving tomorrow. Gonna order my case for it now, along with Spigen case for my iPhone 12 mini. 2 A14 powered devices for under £1100!
But of course, the Air 4 has a newer more efficient chip architecture. Regardless of battery size, I’m never had an iPad that didn’t meet Apple’s 10 hour promise or better.
It really depends on what you do with your ipad. If you crank the brightness all the way up no ipad will last 10 hours even for watching a video, especially on speakers at full volume. Also the magic keyboards takes a toll on battery life. In a recent video about the air 4 Chris Lawley said no ipad lasts 10 hours, but he uses his ipad for everything, as laptop and tablet. Thing is people don't use their ipads with 10 actual hours of screen on time.... A recent battery life test of a video watching from a youtuber with 100% brightness got 6 hours of video watching for the 11 pro 2020, and 5 for the 12.9 (both 600 nits) and 5.5 for the ipad 8 (500 nits).
I just ordered a green iPad Air yesterday. Ship date is Nov 11-16. I’m getting the smart folio tomorrow. I already have a 2017 12.9 iPad Pro, but I want something smaller and lighter that I can take with me on the go.
I’m confused. You said the air 4 was between the 2018 pro and 2020 pro in capacity. So shouldn’t it be about the same then? Sorry if I’m misunderstanding
the same as what? The air 3 has the biggest battery, than the pro 2018, than the air 4, than the pro 2020....
Maybe you question is about "compare favourably" that was in response to how it compares to the air 3.... and my answer is that the 4 has shorter battery life, the air 3 had slightly better battery life than the pro, and this has slightly worse than the pro according to tests...
iPads are always rated for 10 hours. This one is no different. If it was, people previewing it would have said so. Only mention I heard of battery in the previews is that it's better than the iPad Pro 11, and he chalked it up to the fact that the Air doesn't use ProMotion.
yes, this has been the case since the OG ipad, and will probably always be, regardless of size, capacity and actual battery life...
You said the battery of the air 4 should be between the pro 18 and pro 2020. And when i asked how that compared to air 3 you said

but you just said iPad Air 4 has a bigger battery than the 2018 pro as well
Your post it make it sound like you’re saying the air 3 and 4 both have bigger battery than the 2018 pro. That’s why I’m confused with you saying it shouldn’t compare favorably. Why not? Shouldn’t it be fairly similar?

Just watched a new Air 4 preview/review thingy (Sara Dietchy) and she said the opposite of what another person said. She ran the Pro 11 along with the Air and the Air 4 died about 30 minutes sooner than the Pro 11. She said using it in combination with the Magic Keyboard really drained it quickly.
The thing is, battery tests on brand new devices are seldom very accurate anyway. Whether you set a device up as new or use a backup from another device, there's usually extra stuff going on in the background for a while after its first set up that affects the battery life. I don't know how long reviewers have had them, but I would say that you need to use a device for at least a week before you can really judge its battery life.
Yeah, if the Blue was more of what the iPhone 12 looks like I would have pulled the trigger on that. I stuck with Grey.

Where did I say that the Air 4 has a bigger battery than the 2018? I said that the 2018 has the largest of the 3.
Then you asked "How does that compare to the air 3 capacity ? "
And I said " the air 3 had an even bigger battery than the pro 2018, so it [the Air 4] should not compare favourably... [to the air 3, meaning it should last less]
Is it more clear now with the additional explanations in [] ?

Yes my ETA still reflects the delay also. Still hoping it ships tonight. Just wondering if it’s here at a local Apple hub or its coming from China. My smart folio that I ordered last night shipped today and will be here tomorrow.
