My Air 3 is still free from this issue after over 1.5 years. But I must admit I use it very rarely (it has only 35 charge cycles so that should give some impression how little it is used) and even then it is very light use so it does not get warm. What ever causes that reason, my wild guess - it is not time but maybe temperature combined with maybe battery shape changes...

My Air 3 recently developed a slight white spot after almost 3 years. I agree about temps likely being a problem.

I normally charge with an Anker 6- or 10-port 60W charger (max 12W per port). The white spot appears to coincide with when I started to fast charge my Air 3 more frequently with a 30W fast charger. Well, charger is 120W but the Air seems to be pulling a little over 30W max.

So far with my 10.5" iPad Pro I've avoided the white spot. Maybe it's partially because I like to keep my screen brightness comparatively low, and I never use it outside in the sun either. Also, I've never charged it with anything other than a 5W or 10W Apple charger.

I’m always at 0-15% brightness.

My Pro 10.5 still doesn’t have white spot either. Battery’s kinda shot on that one and it seems to charge at 5W even when connected to a 12W charger. It will fast charge though but I’ve only done that maybe 1 or 2 times.

Maybe fast charging could be one of the reasons then.

I've always used 12W charger that came with my Air 3. Also I never let battery deplete very low, I usually charge it when it goes to around 30-40%, but I always let it charge to 100%. I've used auto brightness but even then it is well below 50% (maybe 30-40% most of the time). Also my use is very light, most of the battery use is from standby.
