So it’s now almost 7 months after I got my replacement. Now a bright spot is developing. So from 2 devices both have the white spot. Out of guarantee now. i don’t even carry that thing in a bag pack. So it must be a design fault.

makes sense, white spots on the 10.5 pro did not generally appear the first year, so they same seems to be happening with the air 3, hopefully to a lesser extent. At this point the iPad 8 is a better buy than the air 3... especially in the 128GB storage option

New rumors the iPad 9 will be 10.5 inches with A13 and 4GB of ram. I hope that it doesn’t also get this design flaw...

What is your replacement unit manufacturing date? Just wondering is it before or after Oct 2019 (for which they have this service program and if that is in any way related to that issue)?

Also issue is hard to notice from your photos but looks like there is already much bigger variance in brightness in the middle and bottom corners, which seems much more noticeable to me than this bright spot in the middle of brighter area. Does bright spot show up in normal use more obviously than in these photos you posted?

Its hard to take a picture from it, it’s also not very visible yet. I think someone who doesn’t know about the white spot would not notice it yet. It’s from Nov 2019. Battery is very good according (over 95%) Coconut. The problem ja that you learn to see it.

OK. Mine is still pretty new (about 2.5 months old) and it is manufactured 2020, so still spot free but knowing my luck with displays it is coming. :(

It’s from Nov 2019.
So it seems it is not related to this issue they have service program).

Well, I guess if you have like over 200 charge cycles already that is normal.

I used to have it on my old Pro 10.5, when the battery hits 75% of the capacity, i decided to repair them when i get them back, the screen is dead. So they replace it for free. Hopefully my 11 inch Pro 2020 didn't get this issue.

I haven't seen anybody mention about white spot problem on iPad Air 3 only on iPad Pro. Unfortunately, my iPad Air 3 has this problem, it happened around a month after use. Anyone with the same problem?
my ipad air three also occurred this type of white spot just above the home button, my warranty period will expire on 30th December 2020

Oh crud! Here I am thinking that my iPad air 3 is just an isolated case. My unit also has a faint white spot few inches above the home button. I think it's already there from when I bought it. I just didn’t notice it until recently. Going to have it replace tomorrow. I hope this is not as widespread as the pro 10.5. These are not cheap products!
My ipad air three has this kind of white spot

Yeah. There’s something inherently flawed with the ipad 10.5 design. The ipad pro 10.5 has the same issue.

Yeah and that’s bad news for the iPad 9. Rumors going around that it will be 10.5. Apple will probably use the same design as the air 3.

The White Spots I have seen so far on the Web weren't that bad looking at all. My question is, did those spots become even worse over time, for people who couldn't exchange their devices and kept it for 1-2 more years until now, or did it stay the same? If so, I would be okay with that.

I got a replacement recently, had been lucky that warranty ends in 2 weeks, so my device looks brand-new again, and I still love it (would never follow ridiculous advices of exchanging=downgrading it for the iPad 8 just to get rid of potential white spot issue). The newer Pros and Airs are too expensive for me and also lack the headphone port. I know the A10X and 4GB would still do well in the next 2 years, the 10.5 remains a portable little beast. It's really only the White Spot as a potential issue keeping me ponder.

I update my iPads every 3 generations. Had the 3rd gen, now using a 6th gen. Was looking forward to the 9th gen being released so I can upgrade however this is indeed somewhat concerning if you all think it will be the same design as the ones with the white spot issue. The 6th gen still does more than what I need so I may break my upgrade routine and wait it out for the 10th gen.

Any one figure out what is causing this ? I had it on a 10.5 3rd gen Air, a 12.9 2018 Pro and an XR iphone. Wanted to buy the 2020 12.9 Pro but i'm scared ..

Is it heat ? Something pushing on the back of the display ? Battery bulge ?

Yes, it gets worse overtime. Mine started with a very faint white spot. It was only noticeable in white/light background. Then, after a year of usage, it became more pronounced.

I've noticed it in two areas on the lower section of my Air 3, also. I little difficult to capture on a photo, sorry.
It looks like white light not the black particles, thats just surface dust...

I have the exact same tiny white dot, plus 2 larger white areas as shown in my photos. One picture was taken while the screen was at normal brightness, the other when it dimmed before it shutoff. My unit is an Air 3, produced and purchased in March of 2019.
I just noticed them a few days ago, not sure how long they’ve been there. I’m also having issues with my screen not responding to touch intermittently which is more annoying than the spots. Don’t know if they’re related, but either way I’m out of warranty. ?

Actually, so far, it seems to be primarily Pro 10.5. This is the first Air 3 reported with this issue and I think there might have been one or two 2017 Pro 12.9.

I don't believe this was a prevalent issue with the Air 2, Pro 9.7 and 1st gen Pro 12.9. At least I've never heard even a single report of it on those models.
My Feb 2018 12.9 pro has it
