My first gen pros (12.9 - 9.7), minis, air 1 and 2 have never had screen issues. My 10.5 does, but with IOS 13 its less of an issue thanks to dark mode. And as more and more app use dark mode it will be less and less of an issue (as long as you keep brightness up) since you can basically only see in while zones or with low brightness

My Air 3 gets really warm right above the home button when I'm writing notes in class on Notability. My previous 10.5 Pro didn't do this (my wife's doesn't either). Turning down brightness helps a little but I think the GPU or CPU is right there and hours and hours and hours of heat affect the LCD. (My edukated guess).

Wow, glad to see it's now affecting the Air 3 as well as the 10.5 Pro. No, not really.

I haven't seen anybody mention about white spot problem on iPad Air 3 only on iPad Pro. Unfortunately, my iPad Air 3 has this problem, it happened around a month after use. Anyone with the same problem?
My ipad air3 is also having d same white spot as yours, about 1cm above home button. Had bought it jus two weeks back!
Its like apple is cheating its customers by not fixing such major issue in its ipad screens!!
It bluddy pains when u shell out your hard earned money to buy such expensive apple products n dis is wat u get!!

I had mine replaced just a few months ago. Unfortunately, there’s this pesky white spot again. I won’t bother having it replaced. There really seems to be a hardware design issue with the pro 10.5/air 3.

No white spot on my Air 3/64gb bought 4 months ago. But then I hardly turn it on, instead using a couple iPad 5's. But a little worried it's something that'll develop with extended usage.

Why are you choosing to use iPad 5’s over the air if you have one?

Personally I often use the 9.7 pro to avoid seeing the white spont on the 10.5 pro (A9X instead of A10X) and while you can feel a difference, it's not big, but moving from A12 to A9 is quite a big jump...

I still don’t have the white spot on my 10.5” Pro after a year.

And of course, no white spot on my wife’s 10.2” iPad 7 purchased in December.

In benchmarks, sure. Real-world would depend on the task.

I'm often bottlenecked by internet speed and I force close background apps so I usually have no issues swapping between A9/2GB, A9X/2GB, A10/2GB, A10X/4GB and A12/3GB. Even A8X is tolerable most of the time.

I only have the Iphone SE on A9 so it's not easy to compare speed with a tablet with such a small screen, but I have had the Air 2 and still have the mini 4 (which I only use in bed), which is close to the air 2, and yes they are all usable, but while I can switch regularly between a12, a10x and a9x, anything below feels a bit painful once you are spoiled by the pros and above... Sometimes when I move from A12 to A9x even A9x feels a little less than I would like, but still nice... I would say A9x is the minimum I feel happy with, anything below is just "acceptable" and anything with 1GB RAM is just bad....

Again, depends on task.

Comics, ebooks, video streaming and text-heavy websites with an ad blocker, I'm hard pressed to notice a difference between A9 and A12.

Lol, 1GB RAM was already bad back in 2013. I've always said Apple should've moved to 2GB on the OG Air. Granted, the Air held up surprisingly better than I had expected. :p

Yeah, 1GB started being an issue with IOS 8 back in 2014 and got worse with 9... I didn't update the air from 7 till ios 10 was out and then I sold it.... My only 1GB device now is a mini 2 with is also on IOS 10 but which I will keep forever for my old 32bit apps... Battery is still holding well, much better than the mini 4...

I been noticing the white spot on my 2017/18 iPad Pro 10.5, will Apple do anything for me at this point? Now that I see it I can’t unsee it.

I also have this spot on my air 3, now it became more visible but i knew something was there from the beggining. Greatly disappointed. Its my second unit. First one was replaced due to little white spot mark/dot on screen in june. Now i think i will sell it and wait for pro 11 to get cheaper or look for refubrished one from apple

Did apple replace your ipad?

My Air 3 actually came out of the box with a slightly visible white squiggly mark in the top left corner (in portrait). Did bother to replace it. More recently I’ve noticed a very tiny white spot a few centimetres over the home button. Was actually going to get it replaced this week, if not for the whole covid-19 thing. I’ll probably take it in once it’s all over. I have Apple Care until October 2021.

I am throwing in the towel. On 4th device and seems fine but new 11 pro is in route so selling this one and moving on.

dumping this 10.5 for a trade in on an 11. I’ve never been more unhappy with an Apple product. I’m going to see if I can get any sort of compensation aside from the trade in value, but I doubt it is going to happen.

Well after speaking with Apple, they wanted to charge me $50.00 for this white spot repair. What a joke. I have never been more unhappy with a device.

The 10.5 should be recalled immediately. DO NOT BUY.
