One point I'm still missing: Windows 10 has EoL in October this year. For me - company ThinkPad Win11, private iPad and ThinkPad Win10 - it's a logical consequence to only run a private iPad mobile or with my Lenovo 22" monitor/keyboard/mouse combo to get rid of Windows 11 and have a sufficient Windows laptop replacement. The private ThinkPad will then become an experimental Linux machine. As a department manager and father, there is unfortunately not much time for Linux experiments, so the iPad would be the productive device. As a hardcore Windows user for 25 years, this would be a tough step, but a logical consequence.
Which is important for Apple: I'm not the only one who thinks this way! Many people will not support the switch to Win11! IPadOs 26 could be a game changer.
That sounds like a great plan. I left Windows when 10 began forcing updates on people with no options to skip them or opt out. Had to fix all kinds of driver issues caused by Windows automatic updates. Let me tell you, that wasn’t fun.
So I got a MacBook at first, and switched to Mac. And then I decided to give the iPad a try when the M1 iPad Pro dropped. And I’ve been a happy iPad primary user ever since. 👍🏻. I use my iPad for all of my productivity, I do freelance graphic design work, 3D modeling/sculpting, writing, some video editing, and a ton of other things all on my iPad. It is the computer that’s indispensable for my workflow. I do still have a Mac, I replaced my MacBook with an M1 Mac Mini, but I rarely ever use it, and mostly just use it to remote access an extra storage drive I have connected to it. 👍🏻
I’ve tinkered a little with Linux, and Linux is pretty good. I think a Linux machine could function for you similar to my Mac Mini. 👍🏻
I do have an Asus ROG Ally for some games that don’t run natively on macOS or iPadOS, and I still run into issues with driver issues caused by automatic Windows updates. Just recently, I had to reinstall the drivers for my Ally’s USB-C port, because a Windows update caused an issue with it… 🤦🏼♂️. Since it’s only for occasional gaming, it isn’t as big of a deal when I run into issues I need to fix, but it definitely means I will likely never use Windows for anything other than some gaming…
The funny thing is, I literally grew up using only Windows computers. But Windows 10 pushed me away from Windows, and now I’m actually very glad it did. The iPad is by far my favorite device, and my favorite software experience. I’m completely sold on the iPad. 👍🏻
