I haven’t seen the option appear so far in the left-click menu for external drives. But it seems like it may still be under work, since it’s grayed out in the Menu Bar. 👍🏻. I’m guessing in a later beta, it may give us a little eject button right there on the drive in the side bar, just like on macOS. 👍🏻
I just tried my flash drive, didn’t see it in the right click menu either.

Here's the "Eject" button on a connected server.

My wife’s just tried to go iPad Pro only and everything works for her except garage band!

You cannot do tempo changes on purchased or ripped CDs from music app.

This is a bummer because her MacBook air just broke and was hoping to avoid purchasing a new Mac.

Which ones?

We want to edit diff song’s together and change tempo in some instances.

I tried logic and that didn’t work either.
So you are now asking more than just change the tempo of the song, you want to edit/merge different songs and change the tempos in some parts of them, that goes beyond what those apps do. I would use audacity in a laptop to do that...

Yes she’s a dance teacher so she edits different songs together so the kids can do a dance medley or even editing out the swear words etc. in some instances she will speed up the songs.

It’s a shame that logic and garage band are limited on iPad… we can do it fine on laptop so looks like we will have to buy a new one.. I was reallt hoping she could of made use of the iPad

Would this help? It looks like there are options for tweaking tempo in Logic Pro on the iPad. I think there are also possibly options for GarageBand, but not entirely sure. It can be difficult sometimes to find some of the options. 👍🏻. I hope this helps you out. 👍🏻

PS, here’s for GarageBand, see “Change the tempo of a song”:

Thanks but unfortunately they let you do tempo changes etc on tracks you’ve created yourself but don’t allow you change to songs that are pre recorded like cd rips or iTunes purchases even if they aren’t copyright protected.

Oh, okay. I’ll see if I can find some third-party apps worth trying. 👍🏻

Would this work? Looks tempo adjustments is one of it’s primary uses, so may work better for your situation.👍🏻

It would be great if we can find a solution for you. 👍🏻🙂

There are plenty of apps like this in the store, including totally free ones, the issue is that they change the tempo of the full song, not just a part of it, as he is trying to do...

As previously mentioned, I have a strong aversion to laptops. This aversion is primarily rooted in the keyboards they feature. Additionally, it is a historical aspect of laptops, stemming from their early form factor. Until the introduction of the Mac Studio and my mini PCs, I have consistently assembled my own computers.

The Zenith was a real firecracker in its day, with two 144mg floppy drives and a display that was so crappy it could’ve blinded a vampire, a 2 or 3 hour battery. and weighed several pounds. They were also very expensive compared to a PC.

My first iPad was the 2013 iPad Air, which I loved. However, I was still using Windows computers. The iPhone 6S broke the ice, replacing the iPad due to its cellular capabilities. I eventually switched to an iPad after using the Mac Studio. I waited for the rumored M3 iPad, but it was released as an M4. I chronicled my purchase elsewhere on this forum. This time, I broke my rule of waiting and bought the iPad immediately. I decided to try a keyboard case, but I was not going to purchase the Apple case. I purchased the Logitech combo case instead. I hated it. At the desk, I have things set up so the keyboard works wherever the cursor is located. I move the cursor to the iPad, and the keyboard works on the iPad. My 13" M4 Pro sits in the protective Zugu case. I wonder if I would have purchased a Mac Mini instead of the Mac Studio if I had first purchased an iPad.

I was just thinking about MacBreak Weekly. I don’t watch it anymore. I was turned off by Andy Ihnatko. Now, with the news of ipadOS 26, I wonder how much Andy Ihnatko will be complaining about why Apple doesn’t just put macOS on the iPad. 😂

Curious. What would be the reason to need an eject button on a connected server? I mean, it's not physically plugged into a device like an sd card or usb stick is.

As a side note, you can eject a connected server in iOS and iPad OS 18.5 also.View attachment 2520628

I can kinda see a use for it in a mobile device where you’re leaving a network location physically and want to get it out of the sidebar. In my experience files app does not handle that gracefully.

Great article and interview! 👍🏻. Very refreshing to see! And, I must say, for many years I’ve suspected the iPad is Craig Federighi’s favorite device, and this interview definitely seems to reinforce that. 👍🏻
