Officially shipped. Got the tracking number in an email from Apple for once, instead of finding it through UPS first on my own. Set for delivery the 21st. 256, 12, Space Gray. Am in Florida.

No movement yet on the keyboard (white) or Apple TV, which I ordered at the same time.

My Deliveries app on iOS (where I put in my Apple order number) just updated to have its first scan in China, estimated delivery May 21!

12.9” SG 256GB WiFi model ordered around 5am (yuck) California release time 4/30. :)

I was curious if I could see more info and actual tracking number on UPS by reference, but annoyingly UPS won’t show me anything other than confirming it exists LOL. There’s a message on the top of the site that says “UPS is changing how the reference number tracking results are displayed to provide additional protection.” … so I can’t see the tracking or anything. How are your guys seeing that extra info? And who is this “protecting” lol I’m logged in to UPS My Choice so what gives?

Ok, now my package is updated to "shipped" and my UPS app shows it has already "Departed from facility". So, the package is in the hands of UPS.

The UPS service is "UPS Worldwide Express Service". UPS website shows this as two day service from China to USA. That would mean I could get the package as early as this weekend.

Makes sense?

Highly doubt it. Delivery is 21st, which means that it’s gonna stay in a warehouse for a week before it’s delivered

Has to go through Customs, so could come early next week. Also they might not deliver on the weekends.

A few may slip through the cracks but there are about 250 per pallet when they come in, sometimes more. They go to a facility where they are held until their shipping partners are allowed to send them out. For UPS, that usually means they come here to Louisville (for U.S.) and then Thursday night they are thrown into the big conveyer system and fly out to a local hub that night for Friday delivery.

I rather doubt that UPS would store all those packages for a week. In the past, that has never happened with Apple. They either ship directly to the customer from China, or they all get shipped at once to Apple USA shipping centers for individual boxing and labeling.

Since we have a tracking number it should already be labeled.

Yes, quite possible and probable. However, UPS' description of the service says two days, point to point. I assumed that to include customs' delays.
When I clicked on change shipment date just for fun the next date I could pick was Monday May 24th.

How to track through UPS without tracking number ?
It just showed up in my UPS app. I have UPS my choice, or you could get it by checking your order on Apple and click on tracking. UPS has track by reference and you'd use your order number to track it.

Happens every iPhone release. Apple has a launch day set and they can’t send all they devices from China on the same day. My ip12 was sent with Tuesday scheduled delivery then was changed to Friday when arrived Louisville.

Ordered the 11inch 256gb, still showing processing as it has been since I ordered minutes after launch.
