I don't know why 'shipped from the UK' prices are so expensive. They could sell them at the same price as US ebayers (say $750-799 for a 32GB) and make a decent profit, assuming most are people coming back from holiday.

I just wish Apple would bloody tell us!

Its like any contraband or trafficked goods they are most expensive at the final destination :D:D:D

I wonder how many of these people paid UK VAT !!!!!

If I worked for customs, I'd be asking eBay for the names of all those items stating "I'll be back in the UK on....." and pulling them out for spot checks as they come through the airport ;)

I notice there's a 64GB at £500 BIN right now, but with only 4 feedback and possibly the worst description I've seen in a long time, it's far too much of a risk for me, even if Paypal do cover it.

Some :apple: news tomorrow would be very nice, even if it's just pricing. At least we'll know where we stand.

well i could not hold out, left some bidding over night, bought a 32gb for £513 delivered, just got the vat when it comes, should be a total of £600,

YES I KNOW iv paid over but i cant wait,

Yeah i've noticed that one too sent the seller a question about it, something does seem a little off with it.. ... slightly strange!

Indeed, why would he let it go for hundreds less than everyone else is asking. Too good to be true.

If you look at his history, he supposedly sold a brand new iPhone 3GS 32 GB for a couple of hundred less than retail as well, suggesting that it was an unwanted upgrade on O2. I don't believe it myself. Beware!

I caved and bought a 16GB for $675 (about £445) from eBay. Just need to hide the VAT bill from the wife and tell her I only paid £399! :p

Maybe it's this iPad. ;)

Launch at end of April, no price confirmed yet, though many of us expect the starting price to be in the region of £379-399. Considering the VAT rate and the usual UK 'Apple tax', that is not a bad price.

If you look at the prices for the various iPod Touch models in US vs. UK, you see that they are all quite exactly £76 including VAT for $100 US price excluding tax. And since the iPad is just a large iPod Touch  the WiFi models should be £380 / £456 / £532 and the 3G/GPS models should be £106 more. That also matches exchange rate + VAT within a few pound.

There's a 64GB for £550 (+£20 p&p) from the UK, as of the 13th, at the moment.

Tempting, but I think I will wait.

Although the Mac Mini is $599 which is the same as the 32gb but that's £510 on the UK store.

So not sure you can apply this price matching. Think the poor exchange rate could see us being shafted in the UK again.

As do you... ;-)

From the Forum FAQ:
Minor Problems
12. Corrections. There is no need to point out another poster's spelling or grammatical errors unless you think it is causing confusion. Remember that not all members are native English speakers. Communication, not correctness, is our goal. Examples: Don't correct members who spell Mac in all caps or who call the iPod touch an iTouch.

And the Forum FAQ should be urgently changed: Remember that not all members are native English speakers. Being lazy and careless with your spelling will cause them major problems understanding what you mean. For someone who doesn't speak English as native language, using "there" instead of "they're" or "their" isn't a stupid little mistake, it changes the meaning of a sentence completely and makes it impossible to understand.

Totally agree. Must be a nightmare for non-native English speakers.

Well said.

Nearly bought a 16Gb Wifi model this morning on bin. Would have been £404. It's killing me it really is but if the date of 24th is correct for the uk, then it's only really a couple of more weeks.

Must be strong.

Add me to the impatient list!!

I'm on holiday and keeping up to date on my iPhone which is bloody bard work with one bar of basic gsm data.......

Refreshing the apple event tomorrow is gonna be hard work!

I would eBay one but do like to get it all kosher so I know warranties are valid! Don't apple only honour warranty in same country as purchased?

iPods and iTouch's have international warranties. I would imagine that the iPad is the same.

I'm on my holiday bobs for the next two weeks and to be honest. The wait is killing me. At least if I was at work then i'd have something else to do.

Must have been before I got up. I've been sitting on BIN all morning. I've seen a few bargains on there that really aren't any more than what the retail price is likely to be. :D

Somehow, having a thread of people in the same situation to complain with makes it more bearable :D

You don't know you're born :) - I'm going to be in a soundproof (and phone signal proof) rehearsal room with the other four noisy members of the blues / rock outfit I'm the lead singer with - no chance of getting a second to even pop out of the door and check the event coverage, let alone a constant refresh. :(

It may all kick off when I am otherwise engaged.

I could develop a short burst of a sore throat bug to get out of rehearsal - whaddya think ? Heh.
