This does not necessarily mean that the iPad will be servicable in the UK. The iPhone can only be serviced in the country it is purchased in; even factory unlocked ones. I've had dozens of Apple products serviced internationally (I buy most of my stuff when in the US), and they have never rejected me except for my iPhone when it stopped charging. I had to post it to the US. In the video I mentioned, the Apple guy specifically said that the iPad would not have an international warranty.

Edit: from 2:05 in the following video: http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/03/apples-ipad-its-here/

Thanks for that, you sound like you are in the same boat as me. Each and every time I require service of US apple products the UK technical support helpline have accommodated my requests. in one instance an indian call centre worker decided to challenge my warranty claim, it ended in his re-training and a freebie from apple. I guess it comes down to individual item terms and lack of knowledge/misinformation in apples staff groups. I can't speak for the retail side but phone support has always given me positive support with US products.

I did think about trying to book a 9am slot on the 24th (or 26th or 30th or any other applicable release date) at the Genius bar or with the personal shopper people to see if I got bumped to another date.

This is getting pathetically desperate...help...

Well, I'm fed up of waiting so I've just bought a new (sealed) 2.33ghz cpu for £150 off ebay to upgrade my daughter's 1.5 Core Solo Mac Mini. Should keep me occupied for a while and provide a nice little boost for her.

By the time I'm done maybe there'll be some UK iPad news (but I'm not holding my breath)

this can't be good for Apple UK. Now its out in the US, any lack of information is turning people towards ebay and importing. If they just announced the date and price we would at least have something to compare against and/or bolster our willpower to wait for the official release here..

So here we are...Just settled down to my 2nd day in a row stuck to my iMac refreshing both these forums and any other news site i can get my hands on.... I better stock up on the essentials its going to be another long day!!!

spare a thought for the Macbook pro gang they congregate in their thousands every tuesday since january eternally waiting for the upgrade that never comes :(

back on topic, they :)apple:) don't seem to have the immense demand that was expected over in the US so it seems likely that the end of april will still be a go'er?? any thoughts, anyone think it will slip further?

i sent one early last year... he didn't respond, but one of his euro chums did... en masse..

what was yours about?

btw, this thread is proper OT now! lol

Well, he hasn't responded yet, otherwise I would have said - but it was concerning the UK release - this is my first communication with Apple ever.

Now that this thread is OT, I can open a can of iPad-cool and drink it.

I think that at the iPhone 4.0 event Steve Jobs will open by talking about the successful debut of the iPad and then give the rest of the world a release date before moving onto the iPhone 4.0 stuff.

I think Apple must release info this week otherwise people will start to lose interest and with the wifi issues being reported in the States people may just decide to not bother. Crunch time me thinks.
:(

Yeah I think that will be the case too. Apple usually run over general house keeping and numbers at these sort of events anyway, and I think details on an international launch will appear somewhere between praising their US launch and getting around to what they're introducing with OS 4.0..

Although at this point, that's pretty much blind hope.
