Okay, great, YOU can't tell that there's a difference. And you've already admitted that the fact that you not being able to tell the difference DOESN'T preclude there being one (which there most certainly is). So, what?
As already stated in earlier posts that you failed to read or understand, the fact that I can't see a noticeable difference in the screens is important to my buying decision, not yours or anyone else's. That's what.

Your assumptions and claims have been proven false by other posts, and by history itself, so there's no point in repeating what others obviously already know. The fact remains that neither you nor I nor anyone outside of Apple have any reliable way of knowing with certainty what Apple will and won't do with regard to the iPad mini's future. The difference is, I'm sensible enough to admit that. I never claimed that Apple would or would not discontinue the mini. I simply have accurately refuted the assumption that the iPad mini has already been replaced by a successor model. It has not. Until the iPad mini is officially discontinued by Apple, no one can claim with certainty what the future iPad model line-up will be, or whether it will or won't include an iPad mini form factor.

i got a 9.7 pad pro against my bud's suggestion who has had both (he has a mini 4...feels it is more portable, uses it all the time (along with his surface 4 laptop), feels it's much easier to hold...and imo he's right ...while i prefer the larger screen on the 9.7 it's not the easiest to hold in one hand nor the lightest....nor the most portable when on the road vs the mini 4

i found one today on my local craigslist that i'll probably go and pickup: new 128gb wifi, unwrapped for US$313.

along with many on here i wish apple had made an updated mini 8.5'' version with 10x fusion chip as they'd done with the new ipad pro 2, by squeezing in more actual screen via smaller bezels and a having a faster chip and 4gb of ram...i still think there is a need for small but powerful tablets that 6'' screens on smartphones still can't fully satisfy. most of us want a larger screen but on a smaller phone (hence bezel less phones) or look at the next gen of foldable smartphones in the next few yrs to satisfy that need (they will open up into a mini tablet).

question to ipad mini4 users...do you suggest updating to ios 11?

I do not suggest updating, at least not now, and honestly probably not ever. I am not convinced that the A8 can handle iOS 11. I can tell you that I had iOS 11.0 and 11.0.1 on my Mini 4 and it was a laggy, jerky experience. Some people have said that 11.1 is better, but not everyone is having the same experience. I would be very careful about updating, because there's no going back now.

thanks...i did upgrade anyway...so far am having no problems...
btw I anm LOVING the smaller form factor vs 9.7, esp for one hand holding.
lighter, more nimble...now all apple has to do is do a mini 5 upgrade next yr with 4gb, 10x fusion chip and i'm all set.
wishful thinking that i know....

Yeah, I am leaving my mini 4 at 10.3.3, no plans to update. It is running fine and snappy with that iOS. I too hope they update the mini. I would pass my mini to one of my kids and buy a mini 5 if they released it with 4GB ram and a A10 processor. If they added pencil support, even better to sketch with! But if they don't, I am fine without it too.

I find my Pro 10.5" to cumbersome to use in bed. I am going to return it. Hoping for 8" Pro! Apple can charge as much as the X and I still buy it!

I just wish Apple would come out and tell folks what the plans are for the mini moving forward.

If they are going to let it sail into the sunset, so be it; just tell us.

The secrecy is completely unwarranted.

iOS 11 offers some nice features. I really liked the new dock on the iPad, and the new keyboard is great.

I'd argue they would drive more sells for the other iPads by doing this. They'll be some people waiting on a new mini but if told there wouldn't be one, decide to purchase another iPad instead - not like there's much choice at this point anyway (for small decent tablets).

Comparing to pro 10 inch I would say no. Size wise like pro much more but then again I suppose depends what you are using it for

Another thing I love about the Mini that I don't see mentioned much. It's the perfect size (for me) to do two-hand thumb typing. The phones (even the Plus) are too small, and the 9.7" or bigger iPads are two big. The Mini is exactly right.

I have the 10.5" iPad Pro and the two thumb typing is comfortable while mobile similarly to the iPad Mini 4. I would pick-up the 10.5" when on sale, its a very good device and no regrets.

I have big hands and I don't find even the 9.7" iPads comfortable for two-hand thumb typing. You must have huuuuuge hands. ;) The guy I -don't- want to meet is the guy who can do this comfortably on one of those 12.whatever inch iPad Pro models.

Salad fingers :D

With the reduced bezels on the 10.5", I have thumb typed with no issues. I have artistic fingers and thumbs (skinny) :)

The only way I'll get rid of my iPad mini 4 is if Apple releases a new version. It's absolutely the perfect size for reading in bed, or browsing media on the couch. I love that it weighs nothing and can be held with one hand without fatigue. The A8 and 2gigs of RAM are holding their own still, but it will start showing it's age in the next couple years. I don't like being forced to a larger iPad to stay up to date.

Not sure why Apple did not upgrade/update the mini when it did the iPad. An A9, camera flash would be decent enough.

I agree. The screen resolution and quality are perfectly adequate, the form factor does not require much change if any. Putting an A9 processor and the second gen Touch ID would give it more life. I have used the cameras on my iPad maybe half a dozen times, but I understand people who want the improvements each generation. 2gigs of RAM really is fine for the intended use and customer for the iPad mini. Apple definitely missed an opportunity to extend the iPad mini product line.

I don't think it's accidental that lots of us feel the same way and that the Mini physical form factor is very similar to a Kindle, which Amazon put a lot of time into for design optimization. Indoors I actually prefer the Mini as a reader. Outdoors or in bright light, or for pure battery runtime, the Kindle wins, of course.

I've used a Mini 4 for my aerial photography monitor and it's obvious that DJI is releasing firmware that utilizes more and more resources of the iPad. They also just released their own monitors so it would only make sense. I moved to the iPhone X and will try that but an iPad mini form factor is the most ideal for me. I would LOVE to see a Mini 5.

Does anyone know if there’ll be a Black Friday sale on the mini 4 at Best Buy for those of us who might want to pick them up for the kids?

Total conjecture but I saw a guy on Twitter complaining @BESTBUY that he wasn't able to buy one last week, as the staff member had told him that they were holding back stock for Black Friday.
