I can’t believe this but I’ve only just discovered that you can return home from an app by just swiping up! I always thought you had to use the home button!

I’m sure I’m the last person in the world to know this!

Yeah I've had friends who recently purchased the new iPad and were surprised by the iPhone X gestures. Alternately they're now confused with their pre-X iPhones (iPhone 7+)

Since iOS 12 all iPads can use the new "X-like" gestures. I haven't used the home button once on my mini 2 since then. Pretty awesome and super intuitive as well!

I’ve had the Mini 5 256 LTE for a few weeks now, I use it mostly on the go, don’t even notice the weight in the back pocket of my shoulder bag, and also use it in a few other situations. A great device ... fast, great screen, so portable, Touch ID, headphone jack .. perfect for its role in my 3 iPad system.

I would find the screen too small for all I use a 12.9 and 10.5 for, but it is hugely better than using a phone in on the go situations and allows me to use an SE for hardly any other purpose than phone calls.

I have a 10.5 Pro and still love that, but if I dint have it I wouldn’t buy it now, I think the ideal combo is 12.9 wifi and mini 5 LTE.

Unfortunately the 256 LTE mini 5 I bought yesterday is having WiFi issues. It keeps dropping networks, not seeing networks, and saying passwords are not valid. Out of nowhere it starts working. I know it’s not my home network. Several other iPads, MacBook Pros, and iPhones are working with no glitches.

Genius Bar appointment 1:30PM tomorrow Sunday. It’s a bummer but I’m sure Apple will make it right.

I had WiFi issues with my iPad Mini 2. Settings said that I was connected but I couldn't use WiFi. The fix was always to reboot the iPad Mini - which was a pain. I installed several updates which fixed WiFi problems but none of them fixed the problem. I do not have this problem on the iPad Mini 5. The iPad Mini 2 was a cellular model and the iPad Mini 5 was WiFi only. I didn't know whether or not that was a factor. I assumed that it was a software problem that Apple probably didn't care about - as I've seen a number of WiFi problems with the iOS 11.* releases.

I hope that you can get it resolved at the Genius Bar.

My mini 5 (wifi only, three weeks old) did the same yesterday evening. Good to know it might be a broader issue, I'll monitor this closely.

Got a Mini 5 (256/LTE) a few weeks ago to replace my aging Mini 4 (which is my most-used device for several years).

It is truly wonderful. Not least because I can play Tropico on it, which wasn't available on the 4. :)

When my son needed to upgrade his mini 2 to a mini 4 I traded mine with him, I started using my Air 2 instead of the mini 2. Then my mother in law needed to upgrade her mini 1 and I traded the mini 2 to her, giving my daughter the mini 1 for grad school.

I waited a year for a new Mini while using the Air 2, until I got the Mini 5 last month. I like my new Mini 5 enough that last weekend I gave my Air 2 to my daughter to use at grad school. I'd bought the Air 2 and Mini 4 at the same time, when they first came out, where the Air 2 with BT keyboard would be my laptop replacement for short trips. The 11" Pro would be good for that kind of thing, but not at the price of a new MacBook Air.

I'm keeping the mini 1 as a spare in case someone breaks their iPad, but being stuck on iOS 9.3.5 makes it fairly outdated. And the response time or lag on it is impressive - it's still good for consuming media, as a PDA, and surfing the web.

I had to get an iPad mini 1 replaced way back in the day because it wouldn’t join 2.4GHz networks at all. Strange issue.

After thinking for a while about getting a 2nd iPad and after going back and forth and thinking maybe i should just get the 11 inch iPad Pro to go with my 12.9 pro I thought that’s a huge amount of money to spend to have 2k worth of iPads

I have wanted a smaller iPad to use for note taking and for taking on the go for work and as much as i love my 12.9 it is simply too big to take to work certainly given I have the Logitech keyboard on my 12.9 now which makes it even heavier and bulky but i love the keyboard on it so will be keeping this case on so i needed an on the go iPad to go with my max and i think the mini 5 ticks all the boxes.

Think i will just put my sim from my 12.9 into the mini 5 and for my daily life think a max/12.9 and mini 5 will work really well...

The iPad mini is not good to buy at all, because the screen is small and typing on the smaller screen is not quite as comfy. This iPad is very slow in using it gets stuck.
In landscape mode, the longer and thicker top and bottom bezel come in handy, it offers more of a grip while watching videos.it has very small size that even you can hold it in one hand and touch the screen with the thumb ,therefore I did not like this size.
Moreover, iPad mini has a low resolution screen than other apple products,. But has the least impressive screen than apple’s other devices.
IPad mini camera is not clear, I did not like its picture quality and video .i do not think it worth the money, it is good to buy a phone rather than buying this iPad mini.

Sorry, Mr Ziyuel, Newbie, but I am very happy with my iPad mini 5, which serves as a companion at home and also when on the road. It complements the other Apple devices I have at home and which I may or may not take with me on any given trip when I travel. You don't like what you bought? Fine, return it, or if it is too late for that, sell it or give it away (somehow I don't think the latter will be your choice). Not every Apple device is meant to please everyone.

returning my second ipad for good and I'm going to wait until the kinks work out. first it was the uneven backlighting and now the camera is bad.. i know no one uses it for picture taking but i would like the camera to at least not look like a 2004 digital vga camera .. $450 is alot of to have issues.. i will miss it though

I just tried out the camera for the first time. It seems fine to me. I'd guess that there are QA issues with all devices though I've been very lucky with the stuff that I've bought.
