The newly released iPad mini exhibits a remarkable internal similarity to the iPhone 15 Pro. It is equipped with the same processor, albeit with a slight reduction in the number of graphics processing units. Additionally, it retains the same amount of RAM, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth capabilities. It is intriguing to speculate whether the same design team was responsible for both devices or if it was merely a team just next door that collaborated on this project.

I overall like iPads more than android tablets because they(android) can't compete when we talk about optimized applications (not just stretched phone apps). And Apple knows that. And with each release it (apple) doing it harder and harder to me to like them as a company. They are no longer the ones setting the pace, but rather just catching up with the competition. I think that if they hadn't released a new iPad mini this year, they would have done better.

So, am I correct that the Apple Pencil 2nd Gen that I use with my Mini 6, won't work with the Mini 7?

I had a first gen Pencil with my Mini 5. Then upgraded to a Mini 6 so I had to get a 2nd gen Pencil. Now I need another new Pencil for the 7?

You are totally correct and has now dicovered one of Apple's core ways of working since day one...

Mini has been on my bucket list for several years. After looking at the specs, I'm not sure of it's worth the price tag. Hoping that retailers will have some good deals closer to the Xmas holiday to make it palatable.

I'm mostly intrigued at this point to see whether or not they rotated the panel controller to mitigate the jelly scroll complaints.

If they didn't even do that!?

Err ... umm ... 🤷‍♂️

No one has a hands on yet, but would expect that the controller display issue is dealt with. The biggest improvement is double the DRAM and storage for the same price, besides the GPU improvements. I wonder if stage manger finally works now on the base A17 pro iPad mini 7 model. It used to be only M1 and 256GB was the requirements. The M1 because of 8 GB DRAM.

Imagine for one second an iPad mini with the chance to be connected to an external monitor, showing a desktop class OS, using it as a small keyboard and pad. It would be my only device.
Are you able to hook this ipad 7 up to a monitor with usb c ?

OK. Best Buy just got me to preorder a 256 GB mini 7 -- by offering me a ridiculously good $215 in trade for the 256 GB iPad mini 5 I wasn't using for anything but as a control panel for my Apple Home (lights and locks). At under $400 out of pocket for a 256 GB mini 7, it was irresistible.

People who are on the fence about replacing their mini 6 probably should look at what Best Buy will give them in trade. A friend is trading his 256 GB mini 6 in and getting $350 for it. Alas, I still want to keep my mini 6.
Nice to see that Apple as far as iPad mini trade in adds value to increased optional storage you paid for.

AFIK you can mirror the mini 7 to a monitor via USB-C. But no Stage Manager. This from YT videos. I haven’t tried it myself.
