I've upgraded every Mini wince the first one and currently have v6. But I also bought the 13" iPad Air earlier this year and I'm finding the combo perfect to fill my needs for various activities. I don't think I'm going to upgrade the Mini this time though. But I'm still excited to see what it's bringing.
You upgraded from the mini 2 to the mini 3?

All screens have jelly, it's just how noticeable it is. The mini 4 had it in landscape, my M1 12.9 does if I really concentrate.

I notice a slight bit of it in my 11" M4, also.

Not anything like my Demos of the Mini, though...

Absolutely not, because the distance of the higher point on the left to the lower point on the right is much greater.

This "effect" runs counter to my intuition . . . I would think that the more pixels to push over a larger area, the greater the delay in visual updates?

Is it just because AAPL chose the wrong display tech for the Mini 6?

I’m moving to a dumb phone in January and plan to use my iPad mini for when I *have* to get online. It’ll be very portable, but still enough of an inconvenience to discourage me from mindlessly doomscrolling.
Interesting ideas. I also plan to get mini to replace my kindles. I need responsive, fast (for skimming) and colorful reader. The better the mini, the lower my need to have “smart” phone

It is an accessory that is compatible with multiple generations. It came out in 2018.

This new change is due to the new camera orientation that people wanted. Also, Pencil Pro is better than the previous pencil, so it’s not just change for change’s sake.

If Apple kept compatibility with the previous pencil, Pencil Pro wouldn’t work with the new Mini, and people would be angry about that. “Apple wants us to buy the more expensive iPad just to have Pencil Pro!”

This is the right decision.
Well we know that is total BS. The pencil 1 works on M2/M4 iPad Pro with a certain app to force pairing via Bluetooth. Nothing to do with magnets or orientation.

This is my plan if the new iPad mini is actually decent.
I use both, the Kindle eInk is nicer for longer reading, but iPad Mini's are great for faster research through books.

I also use a 16 Pro Max iPhone, as you have to remember that even Max phones are still significantly smaller screens than an iPad Mini. Plus as I live in a large city, you need a phone in your pocket to quickly do many things (maps, transport, pay, check various things, etc.).

Plus, with mini I can run ChatGPT for research during reading. It’s all on one device.

“Working partially” has never been Apple’s way.

This was the right move.

Exactly! Which means it will probably be purchased no matter what they do to it... Face ID would be nice, though.
Guilty as charged. my 5 has gotten pretty sluggish, so I'm upgrading.

I do wish someone at Apple realized they have a captive audience and made some quality of-life improvements for pilots. The big one is that 500 nits is just not bring enough. I will 100% plop down some more money if they ever upgrade the screen to be 1000+ nits. I love the newish iPhone screens. They're so dang readable in daylight these days.

Just pre-ordered the mini 7 256gb in purple! Just got the wi-fi this time as I usually keep my mini at home.
