Agreed, There is more to a display besides resolution, though I am not really sure what you are seeing from the display overall that makes it bad besides the below cons.

Cons
  • It lacks Pro-Motion
  • It certainly jelly scrolls in Portrait mode
  • It could stand to be brighter (500 Nits is just not enough anymore)

Pros
  • It has a high pixel density (326ppi)
  • It has good viewing angles overall
  • contrast ratio is fair (not great) 1325:1 (compare to iPad Air 2020 1305:1)
  • P3 display with reviewer confirmed good color accuracy
  • Decent viewing angles
Below are a couple of charts (as tested) by Notebook check. The Mini 6 isn't perfect, but far from garbage. It actually compares reasonably well with the iPad Air 6 in many ways, a much newer device! According to them it is also more color accurate than many other devices which is one of the key reasons I like using it as a run and gun photo editor (granted not in bright daylight lol)

::Edit::
Correction, I misread the color chart, it is behind the Air 6, but still reasonable compared to peers then and now.

My eyes

Sorry, it just looks worse.

I’ve seen it and used it many times at stores and I feel that way every single time.

I’m glad you enjoy the product

I’m hoping for something better with v7

No worries, Your opinion and observations are understood.

Am also hoping for a step forward, fingers crossed we get a "pro" version. I think quite a few of us have been asking for Apple to provide that!

- Faster wire transfer speeds
- better display (OLED?)
- smaller bezel
- more modern wifi / BT options
- much more storage!

Might just get an older 11" ipad pro then for the same price

If the 11" size doesn't bother you, Best Buy has the latest models on sale for $849 (in the US). That's only $200 more than a 256GB Mini, which I think is well worth the extra scratch.

I unfortunately find the 11" to be too big for one handed e-reading and cramped airplane cockpits, so I have to deal with Apple considering the Mini to be a budget device. :(

I'm only reading this because I'm interested to see what they do with this model, but I gotta say, too many of these posts are just nothing burgers filled with a lot of nothing. This whole entire article could have been "maybe they will fix the screen. " In the form of a tweet.

I like this site but man this was painfully crap nothing info.

I hope for 2 versions.

1st mini upgraded with good stuff
2nd mini pro, with M-chip etc etc

If no M-chip, I'll pass & might buy an Air instead.
If it comes with M-chip and some more goodies, I trade-in both my mini 5 & 6 for it.
Not with the Apple -trade in though, it's beyond useless in this country, and no Apple store here in my town.
Fortunately there are other stores I can walk into and can make my business with here.

So we'll see what are Apple going to release?

So excited for the mini 7! I got the mini 6 since launch day and love it! I hope they keep the Touch ID bc I like to lay in bed at night in low light where the Touch ID is perfect! Can’t even open my iPhone 14pro in dim light bc the Face ID doesn’t work.

iPad Air have also touch-id so I doubt they will give the mini 7 anything else either.
Yes, each id have it's pros-and-cons.

I’m not sure why, but I’ve never been bothered by the jelly issue. Yes, it definitely draws attention, especially when you're browsing the web or reading an e-book, but it’s never bothered me once. Maybe it’s because my overall satisfaction with the device outweighs the flaw of the jelly effect."

iPad mini is the size I thought of when the whole iPad was just a rumor, something the size of a Blockbuster Video DVD case...

IMHO, the perfect size for reading books, a digital sketchpad, etc. ...

I'd love to see the bezels half as wide compared to the current iteration. Would make it easier for me to hold 1-handed in portrait orientation.
