How did so many reviewers not see the effect on the 6? Then can’t comment on the 7. I will see for myself tomorrow. Even if it does it I still really like my mini. It’s a daily use item.

Also my take. If even one person claims it's there, it is there. It's just a matter of "are you sensitive to it". The same way some people do not notice 60hz vs 120hz displays, or the halo effect on the apple vision. You either see it or you do not.

It has dawned on me that we are now so far removed from the Steve era that vast majority of the Apple user base doesn’t even know what kind of quality standard we are talking about here

It’s sad

Steve Jobs has been gone for longer than the period of time between the introduction of the G3 iMac and his death.

Still as a big Apple fan to this day, I have to agree. And yet Apple is still miles ahead of anyone else in the tech industry. But there's lots of things Steve wouldn't have shipped. The iPhone 16 Pro camera button i'm pretty sure would have been one.

We MAY have got some nice things now that Steve wouldn't have allowed in the past low, like Shortcuts. We may well have been stuck at least for many years with a worse camera as he refused to allow a camera bump. Generally though I liked his hard line approach to everything. I think he'd have made the changed to all USB-C back in 2016 as well, however I don't think he'd have back tracked on it with the latest MacBook Pros - that design is very much not a Jobs design IMO.

This is a really good comparison. Honestly, not sure I would even notice that in daily use. The old mini makes my head explode.
It’s definitely still there, but also definitely improved. This is going to come down to the in-hand personal testing. I also can’t stand the Mini 6 effect.

Anyone found videos of scrolling landscape?

Base model iPads and the iPad mini use A series processors from the iPhone line, and their displays should behave similarly. Has anyone complained of jelly scrolling on larger iPads or the iPhone?

They said it wasn't an issue at all when the iPad Mini 6 came out. I'm not sure why they had to essentially lie about an issue that existed.

This is what Apple does. They simply do not admit that their products have flaws. Not if they are fundamental parts of the design. If a bad part gets through manufacturing and only affects some models they will.

Think about all the times they have released a follow up model in the same year. iPad 3, 2020 Intel MacBook Air, etc.

They may fix them, but they’ll never admit it.

Agree 100%. I have been using and developing software for Apple/Macs since 1986. The quality and integration of everything was much better in the Steve era. Really wish he was still around.

Because Apple has deep pockets and product liability, mass tort, and class action firms are always looking for ways to get at Apple. Saying something like that would make it an easy target.

Also, it wasn't a real issue. The screen worked as designed - the designers just made a slightly bone-headed decision. But it worked as intended, so there was nothing wrong with it.

Just give it a 120hz screen already. Not sure why they haven’t made a pro version of this iPad yet
Because there's probably only a very small market for it. It would also probably burn through the battery a lot faster unless they also gave it an OLED display, and again, that's just making it into a more expensive device that most people probably aren't interested in. I don't think we're ever going to the get the iPad Pro in the body of a Mini that some people fantasize about. I think that most people who buy a Mini intend to use it for simple things and they don't need Pro features and certainly don't want to pay for them.

They won’t talk about it because it probably comes down to them using cheap AF components they’ll never admit to. The long and short of it is that EVERY single device has SOME degree of jelly scrolling. It’s barely perceptible on pro-motion devices but turn your non-pro iPhone in landscape and it’s terrible. The iPad Air as well in landscape.

But, The fact that every single one of these”reviews” basically says “idk if it’s fixed but Apple says it’s better“ is extremely suspect.

How about making it an optional paid upgrade?

Other companies do this for a wide variety of their products

Easy fix!
Want a way better screen .. BTO it!

Today's headlines: Apple fixed something that, first of all, should have never been there in the first place. And then it only took them several years to resolve. And it's still not clear if it's resolved!

Great work Apple! Bunch of amateurs and greedy bean counters running the show now I guess.
I guarantee you that at least 90% of the people who bought the Mini 6 or will buy the Mini 7 have no idea what Jelly Scroll is, and will never notice it unless someone brings it to their attention, and even then most won't care. So why would Apple bother promoting that they "fixed" a problem that most people don't even know about, when all that will do is make people aware of an issue that they weren't previously concerned about?
