240fps slo mo, jelly scroll is still there but to me it doesn’t bother me anymore, I’m not waiting another 3 years to ditch the iPad mini on launch, I’ll just buy another one if that’s the case because I can

What this video mainly makes me mad about is....

Apple, jelly stuff aside, why are you shipping a screen of this "quality" in what is esentially a 2025 product?

I don't think jelly scrolling is that much of an issue. Didn't bug me a bit when I borrowed my brother's Mini 6. And I'm one of the guys that doesn't shut up about 120hz!
120Hz is exactly the way to fix jelly scrolling. All LCD are jelly if rotated sideway and the higher the refresh rate, the less jelly it will be.
Another way to fix it is going OLED.

In that video it doesn’t even look improved, let alone fixed, on the new one!
The display is still 60Hz so there's absolutely no improvement at all. Any one claims there are improved are ether lying or doesn't understand what is jelly scrolling.

60Hz LCD means it takes 1/60 second to refresh the screen. And the refresh happens pixel by pixel and line by line. The screen is always refreshing 1 pixel at a time.

The jelly scrolling will always be there until they move to 120Hz or OLED. This is the limitation of 60Hz LCD, regardless of the quality of the screen. Any 60Hz LCD will be jelly to the exact same degree.

They said it wasn't an issue at all when the iPad Mini 6 came out. I'm not sure why they had to essentially lie about an issue that existed.
You’re expecting transparency and a Mea Culpa from “you’re just holding it wrong” Apple?
Good luck with that I guess.

I'm not denying that it's fixable, I'm just saying it's not actually that big a deal.

Why do people think that OLED doesn't have this issue? It may hide it a little better due to better pixel response times, but it's an inherent issue because of how displays refresh.

do previous generation iPad mini 5 and older have this issue ?
I saw it two times on my mini 5 and that was really visible.
Sometimes it happens, this is when I use term “barely noticable”.
I do not want to downplay this situation, in the end the mini costs our money, however this is more like - well it happens, this is not an issue of high priority not even severe.
Edit: added comment
Display of the minis deserves improvement imho. For me display is more important than my expectations of A18 CPU. That is why i skip also mini 7.

Don't think it will be fixed fully but definitely expecting to see some improvements.

Nope, just a gentle nudge that they aren't very dissimilar to other companies, and in some cases are worse about how they respond to issues.

I'll check it out at the Apple Store and see for myself. Only way to know for sure.
Just been to the Apple Store and I can tell you definitively that jelly scroll is still very much present. Has it improved? Without a mini 6 side by side, it’s hard to tell but if that’s what it takes, then I’m gonna say not enough that it matters. Kinda lame that Apple didn’t bother to address this properly but on the other hand, this low effort streak with recent products is saving me some cash.

I bought a mini 7 and side by side with mini 6 you’ll observe it’s not as bad when really forced using web pages the can show graphics that show a uneven motion horizontally when using varying fast vertically up down scrolling. This video shows it comparably time point 5:55 also. :)

I’m sure the video is accurate and probably helpful for some. I guess the point of me seeing it in person at the Apple Store was to assess whether the improvements were enough to make a meaningful difference for me personally. Unfortunately, they weren’t. Happy for you that you got the mini 7 and hope you enjoy it. I’m jelly! 🥁
