I’ll believe it when I see it.
On the other hand, love the drama of “biggest redesign in history “. Since the mini has kept its design language so long, simply changing a port would be the biggest redesign already.

Has to happen…can’t get better without it…just like iPad unless they do something about its design it will be just a big heat mess, bigger than it currently is.

loved my mini 5 but at the end of the day, it was horrible for magazines and books, which is my primary use for these computer accessories..

It's my fault. I wanted for years to replace my Mini 2, but finally gave up and bought an 11" pro. Hence the announcement of a new Mini. Oh well, I am liking my Pro, and surprisingly like the Magic Keyboard too.

I thought it was great for magazines and books. But the 256GB was too limiting for me. Hoping for 512GB storage.

nah I hate zooming in and scrolling... especially for comic books.

I am excited for this model. I have both iPP sizes and primarily use the 11inch. I can't wait for the full screen design for the mini. I feel like the 11in is highly portable already but the mini will allow me to take it many places and make a great note taking, book reading, productivity tool.

It's personal preference I guess. Plus, I have 20/20, so that helps too :)

IPad mini with the 2nd gen Apple Pencil would be a great field device for me. Id likely ditch my 11” iPP in favor for a mini like this.
Yep--I'd love a mini with the modern iPad design language of the Pros/Airs just to carry around with an Apple Pencil as my little notebook/e-reader/whatever when I don't need my Mac. Perfect size and form factor for that purpose.

Wouldn’t that be cool if the ipad Mini grew to say, 9.7 or 10.5 11 or even 12.9 inches?
I hadn't thought of that, but I'd totally buy an iPad mini with a 9.7" screen but none of the bezel or home button nonsense. In other words, let's get this old design out of here forever.

The screen size can grow (with smaller bezels), yet the iPad physically stays the same size.

Sure, that’s great. Except when bezels get so small that part of the screen is slightly covered by a finger, and/or you accidentally invoke a 2-finger swipe when you didn’t intend to.

And while we’re at it, eliminating the one home button just for more screen real estate is just dumb. Makes doing what what quick/easy before way too less obvious and less efficient. There’s a reason why a touchscreen volume control in a car is never as good as a discrete knob. Apple is too blind to unintended consequences with each “removal of at least something” every few years.

It’s called “progress” 😉 Plus I have big hands and never accidentally invoked a 2-finger swipe on my bf’s iPad Pro 2018.

I see. So any change for better or worse should be labeled under “progress.”

When the fad police usher away all the unintuitive, vague flat design silliness, and “intentional” features return like a home button returning to an ipad (like the rumored return of USB-A ports and MagSafe to MacBooks in place of the over-minimalist 4 ports of USB-C) for added user convenience, then we’ll just call it progress and you’ll be happy, I’ll be happy. :)

The thing is that, for me, having that design is better that the one it has now. Of course it depends on everyone’s opinion so, in my opinion, having less bezels is better than maintaining home button.
