I used to play PS4 games with 30 fps and it was fine, but now some games are 60 fps and when I go back to 30 fps it looks terrible. But it's something you can easily readjust overtime, first time you see the difference it's jarring especially when downgrade happens.

I think it is also a lot about what you are used to, I am using high refresh rate for everything these days, I work on it, I game on it, I use it on my iPad Pro and so on. Once you are used to high refresh rate it is very easy to notice when you don’t have it.

I can tell a big difference in the screens on the times I leave the office at home where I supplied the equipment and head into the company equipped office instead for example.
But then why wouldn’t it work the other way? If someone is used to no promotion, why wouldn’t it then be easy for them to notice promotion when they see it?

It seems to be very subjective. There are a lot of people who don't want to live without it, and a lot of people who barely even notice it. I lean toward the latter. It’s only obvious to me when I use a promotion and non promotion device side by side.

I’m thinking it must be some physiological difference in people’s eyes and/or brains that makes promotion so obvious to some and not to others. It would be fascinating to see a study on this someday. Or perhaps a similar study has already been done.
I can only notice the difference between 120Hz and 60Hz displays if I look for it carefully.

OTOH, I can easily see the strobing of the majority of LED light bulbs, especially in my peripheral vision. LED light bulbs typically pulse at 120Hz (North America, 100Hz mostly elsewhere). I know immediately whether a room is lit with LED light bulbs or incandescent, even if they are the same color temperature, because the LED light is strobing. Peripheral vision is very sensitive to movement (probably for evolutionary reasons), and I perceive the LED strobing as a slight movement shimmering.

Given that, I find it weird that I can barely notice 60Hz display vs 120Hz.

Do you walk around with mask looking at iPad?

No but I use it around the office for meetings or research/reference. Masks are mandatory at work and TouchID's much easier than entering the passcode. It's also easier to use at hospital waiting rooms, etc.

same, that's why on the go I still take a lightning iPads, or, if I want the magic keyboard, I use it with faceid disabled, just like I do at home...

TouchID makes a lot more sense on iPad than iPhone. At least on iPhone you can unlock with Watch when wearing mask.

Touch ID has always easier than face on iPad due to using 95%+ landscape mode, when using like a big phone in portrait mode then it might work ok.

Not sure what I’ll go for in the UK yet, usually good deals
Let us know if you spot any good deals. It’d be nice to find a sim-only data plan where the data you paid for doesn’t expire until you finish using it. I’d rather pay up front than a pay-monthly one, because I probably wouldn’t need it all the time - would just be nice to have some data available if/when I need it.

I find the Three Prepay Mobile Broadband sims good. Data doesn’t quite stay until use it all but you can choose a data amount and a validity period from their options. Amazon have them on offer from time to time (not at the moment unfortunately.) I got the 24GB for 24 months for £30.77 around Black Friday last year. You don’t have to activate it straight away though I’m not sure if there is any limit - I started using mine in May so have until May 2023 to use the rest. I think EE have similar but they were more expensive comparatively when I was looking.

Thank you. I’ll have a look around Black Friday!
