The iPP face recognition is so much more convenient than a iPhone. I don’t wear sunglasses or face masks with my iPP. Other than that I don’t see a difference?

I’ve used both and the tablet will invariably not be in a position to see my face when it needs to. I either have to contort my body/neck or move the tablet from where it is to enable it to see my face.

Just tested, mine works at arm length on my desk and i am 6'3 long arms lol, wouldn't need it further way than that.
In the dark in bed i find it hit and miss, probably when too close to my face.

It's serving me well enough, but battery life could use an improvement. Ordered the new 11" with student disc last week so will be passing on my white spot free 10.5" to my wife ;)

I have had my 10.5 Pro for three years now and it has been a great device for me. The only issues up to this point have been the white spot phenomena and normal degraded battery life. The white spot issue has been very minimal and I actually have trouble seeing it sometimes. The decaying battery life is the bigger issue for me now.

With all that being said, I ordered a 12.9 Pro a week ago and I have begun the 4-5 week wait for it to be delivered from Apple. My plan is to pass down the old trusty 10.5 Pro to my son and maybe get the battery replaced for him.

A question for those who have had the battery replaced.

1. What is the cost of the battery replacement and how long does it typically take?

2. Since all of the Apple stores are closed around here for Covid-19 and I can't take it to one of them, if you send in your iPad to Apple for the battery replacement, do you receive your original iPad back afterwards or is it a replacement model?

Apple charges $99 for a battery replacement.
When you send out your iPad for repair, you will get an Apple Certified Replacement, you do not get your original one back.
