I just picked up my 12.9 inch Pro and have arrived home to set it up and migrate into my workflow here are my impressions within the first 10 minutes.

1. The display is gorgeous and the iPad has a level of smoothness unfound on any device I have ever used.
2. The A10X is fast, setting up the iPad Pro was quick and smooth, BAH DAH DAH BAH IM LOVIN IT:D
3. The device although large feels very light for the size and feels significant in the hand but not bulky or uncomfortable.
4. Touch ID 2 is faster then ever and I'm so glad my iPhone 7 and iPad have parity now.
5. The speakers sound wonderful and full at half volume they were clearly audible and loud as my old Air 2.
6. The 12.9 inch screen is wonderful, some may disagree but I love the space I have to work now and multitasking no longer feels like I'm giving something up.

Please feel free to ask questions but I wont be doing any tests for people, simply because I don't want to install a bunch of apps on my new iPad. ;)

What made you choose 12.9 over 10.5? How do you find the multi tasking on it? Can it really replace MacBook for non video editing work?

I just updated from the Air 2 to the new Pro 12.9 and I'm loving it. I thought it was too big at first, but I'm loving this screen, the 9.7 is just so tiny compared to this. I'm going to take it to work tomorrow for note taking to see how it feels taking it out, but I have a feeling that it'll work out just fine.

I had a iPad Air 2 before this and multitasking on it was simply to small and cramped for productivity. The 10.5 doesn't change that it's a couple extra lines of text but nothing more. Describe in detail what work you do, since my work is rather basic, involves web browsing, documents, pdfs, and note taking, all which can be effectively done since iPad 4's in fact that's the model my school has for students to borrow if we forget our personal ones, well I did and my god the iPad 4 is doable but my patience was VERY THIN it was not something I'd use daily for even my basic workflow.

I'm browsing the forum in while lying in bed and omg this is so comfy, btw I would kill for the Smart Keyboard to have backlights, but I'm just typing now on the device and even the with the keyboard up I'm not covering any important content this is amazing experience, its like I took a 13 inch MacBook Pro display and put the computer behind it and now I have essentially this slab of glass that is so comfy. My air 2 was pathetic and my MacBook Pro was so unwieldy and heavy compared to this not to mention slower and no Retina display and awful 5 -6 hour battery life. I'm overjoyed with my new iPad Pro

I never minded the real home button, omg that DAT SCREEN DOH :D:D

Ironically none of my BestBuy's in town had them in stock URGGG
I didn't mind the physical button, but the iPhone 7 button really grew on me.

Speakers are going to be the same as the first version as I know, sound great bu the way, I will do a full volume music test tomorrow.
I think the speakers on the 10.5 are slightly louder and just as clear as the 9.7 pro. I can test them side by side tomorrow. I left the 9.7 at work.

Isn't it so smooth, the 120hz and inherent smoothness of iOS adds up to a device unlike ever before.

Ahh idk man I hadn't even had my Air 2 for 3 years and well now look. :p:D

Yes! I often had a good bit of lag when reading text heavy sites and scrolling. This thing is blowing my mind! I haven't tried my pencil yet, but I'm just enjoying looking at it right now. I had my grandson's new iPad 9.7 next to my new pro and I cannot believe the difference!

I must say even from the 9.7 pro to 10.5 pro, it's a huge upgrade. Like I said, I didn't notice the physical home button...thought about it for a second, was like "that sucks" and flicked to the next comment to see the smooth scroll. I've decided I'm keeping it naked with apples sleeve. I do need some kind of stand for it to prop in my car to watch tv during lunch though. The Logitech keyboard and back was just too bulky.

I understand that the 2nd gen actually weight less then the 1st gen. Wonder how they reduced the weight but cool they did. That was one of my only "complaints" with the first gen. I had the cellular since release and recently sold it. Thinking of buying the new and in wifi only so the weight reduction should be even bigger.

It only weighs 36 grams less so it's not like they had to do much to reduce it by that tiny amount. Don't get me wrong, lighter is better but it's hardly noticeable.

I bought the new 12.9 for the storage, but it's quite a bit faster at everything. Blown away how even web browsing is significantly improved.

Actually, I notice it every time I pick up it. Holding for sustained amounts of time, yeah, you feel it, but the slightly lighter weight was the icing on the cake for me.

Neat to see the growing love for the 12.9 Pro. Although it was present last year, the 12.9 size seems to have grown on more folks. Welcome aboard! :)
Thanks for the warm welcome I'm amazed at every aspect of this thing, from the polished chamfered edges, A10X performance, 120hz screen, and MY GOD these speakers :D:D:eek::) I'm blown away

Please make a review about speaker quality, is it louder? or same as first, weight is a bit lighter true?
Yes the iPad weighs less then the first generation, as for the speakers they are F**kin AMAZING, 80% volume and this thing is filling my room with amazing audio. If you haven't heard the speakers outside a loud Apple Store, you will probably be blown away as I have.

I have to say this 12.9-inch is really nice! I received it yesterday and restored data from Pro my 9.7 Pro. The screen speeds are so fluid and fast! I enjoy how quickly everything works, huge and noticeable improvement!

The video plays great on the screen. I've been watching youtube and it feels the video is faster then the audio output on some bloggers channels, I could be wrong but its something I sort of noticed. I haven't tried out the Pencil yet but will tomorrow.

I ended up getting caught up on Silicon Valley on HBO last night. I use this iPad with the Flote stand its really sweet combination. The fingerprint reader is faster also I noticed. The overall device is just a huge improvement. I'm glad I went back to the 12.9-inch, I sold mine prematurely last year thinking they were going to update it and they only updated the 9.7, so I'm glad to have this bigger screen back. If your unsure, go to your local Apple store and try it out, its really sweet update.

Well I got a 10.5 initially but had conversations with myself since I have had 12.9 Pro for quite some time and decided I better try the new 12.9 as well.

I will update my impressions after I have played with it for awhile. That extra screen space is really awesome.

I've done the same - got a 10.5 - but then decided you just can't beat the 12.9 screen space so got that on order as well now.. Going to try them both..

I went with the 12,9'' wifi 512Gb.
I bought an ipad mini 4 a year or so back, but it felt rather cramped when reading books in A4 format, such as medical litterature and art books. I wanted something bigger, preferably with a pencil for annotation. This baby was a no-brainer when they announced it at WWDC.
Verdict after 1.5 days of use? I'm blown away: gorgeous display and the fastest machine ever. Together with the app environment: iBooks, iTunes etc, it's superior to anything on the market right now.
Last I'm a little surprised that the 12.9 has been marketed mostly as an instrument for artists: I believe its generally very suitable for people who read a lot, and want something comfortable for their eyes.

+ the screen is big enough to work as an extra screen for movies in its own right. Perfect when working with the MBP and want a movie rolling in the background
+ very competent speakers for such a small device

It's also great for playing videos in PIP while working on documents all on the 12.9 Pro. :D

I've just noticed a "Limit Frame Rate" setting in Accesibility > Display Accomodations. I switched it off just to see and you can definitely tell 120hz makes quite the difference.

My goodness, this thread is making me twitch since I am still waiting on my 12.9 Space Grey 512 GB to arrive. Keep these motivating comments going so I can drive myself crazy while I wait!

I ordered a Draft Table from Elevation Labs and it is patiently waiting for this iPad to arrive.
